I recently discovered the wonderful world of skin creation for BeamNG. I have a long background in FlightSim development, though I've left that behind completely. As such, in terms of techincal skills, my ability to make liveries/skins and textures is just fine. I thought I would share a bit of that with the community.

I created a skin to mimic the appearance of a pre-1999 BC Transit bus from Vancouver, British Columbia. To do so, I took the UV texture with the wireframe from the citybus directory, and created my new livery in Inkscape (similar to Illustrator) using vector drawing. This complete, I removed all background layers and exported a PNG graphic with no background (only alpha) at the correct resolution - 4096 x 2048. After a bit of trial and error, I finally got the skin name to appear in BeamNG but with a rather frustrating result. I have followed the basic tutorial and read through the guidelines on skin mods, as well as watched various videos on people explaining how to create mods. Despite this, I can't seem to make this work. This is what the skin looks like:

This is what the buses look like:

And this is how BeamNG is interpreting my DDS:

I have double checked that it is only a problem with the DDS by downloading someone else's skin mod for the citybus and applying my DDS within the correct location in the file heirarchy and renaming my file to the old file name originally found there. I get the same results.

What could I have possible done wrong?

The last picture, your skin is not being loaded, but instead the 'NO_TEXTURE' image

This usually means that the game was not able to locate and load the texture file you have defined in your materials file.
You should check if the path is 100% correct in this case.

If unsure, please copy here your material file, and tell me the full path of where the texture file is located.

Also open the game console with ~ key and check what it has to say, wrong compression types could potentially cause issues for example.
