Gavril H15 Vanster

I will say that I really hope that the Vanster will get some official 'love from the Devs' here soon. That 'love' is more parts. It doesn't have too much to it. There is so much potential for the Vanster.

 

I'm hoping for a body-coloured front fascia, bumpers, and mirrors. Preferably like the ones on the D-series, where they can be swapped out in the parts selector instead of being controlled by the skin system.

 

That seems very nice. I'd like to see those things, along with rear seats, windows, side doors, some paint-matched fender flairs and air dams. Fog lights maybe. Things like that. Maybe an official style of wheel like the generic stuff you'd see on the road. They are generally hub caps for steel wheels, but it would be nice to see these in a complete wheel form, that is, not a hub cap.

So, let me do a thing here and bump this thread simply because I want to ask the glorious Devs if this will ever happen:
Dear Devs,
Will we ever see the Vanster with windows and passenger seats and more doors and new wheels (rim styles) for the Vanster? I feel as though this poor van needs some love. I've said that before, but I feel as though it is just.

 

I noticed the other day that the skin UVs contain the fascia, bumpers and wing mirrors. These parts don't seem to apply the skin though.
Am I missing something or is it just an oversight?

 

Technically you can change the bumper and fascia default materials to the body material and thus texture those parts

 

As far as I know, the bumpers, wing mirrors, and fascia already use the same material as the body does.

I'm still over here waiting for the Vanster to get it's extensive overhaul. It needs it imo.

 

Yep It does, It needs a van body with side doors and windows, a passenger config and a towtruck and tanker options for the cabster config.
At least I think that.

 

Probably I am in the minority, but for the vanster I would love to see a some kind of loading system added for the box and flatbed upfits. I really enjoy simulating heavy haulage, and this platform has such a great potential for more of that kind of fun. Some of my favorite mods revolve around towing, such as the airbag trailer, or the gooseneck mod for the d-series pickup. I suppose I'd even be content with various parts of WCUSA/ECUSA and so forth having loading docks that would be compatible with the various flat bed models in the game. Tangentially, A ferry that can hold a car or two would be pretty cool Tho I've read boats are a challenge with the current physics model.

 

Yeah, thats totally true, I enjoy towing too, I would apreciate more variety of rolling stock for the game. And trains, having a oficial train would be Awersome.

 

So, with a refresh for the H-series confirmed to be upcoming, I just wanted to get in my personal wishlist:

• More Chrome Parts - specifically the front fascia, bumpers, and possibly a new set of chrome 8-lug wheels. For mainly traditional reasons, fire departments in the USA prefer to have all vehicles with as much chrome as possible, although chrome or chrome-edged grilles seem to have almost been standard on all civilian Ford vans of the same era as the H15.

• More Grille Options - Note two things about the grille on the German ambulance above - it's colour (same as the main body), and the emergency lights and sirens built into it. I propose that a second grille intended for the ambulance is created - and both come in a variety of finishes.
• Note also the Fender-Mounted Emergency Lights - these seem to be almost a standard part of ambulance conversion, but are not mounted to police vans. Presumably that's because police vans are seldom involved in high-speed maneuvering through traffic, while ambulances are and require the extra visibility.

• Bumper-mounted Traffic Cone Holder - Perfect for the H25 Work Package and the H45 Flatbed. Just think of how much fun this thing would be to watch go flying in a crash!

• Rear doors without Windows - Particularly for the Work Package. These doors are preferred by many commercial operators because there is no way for thieves to look inside and decide whether there's something worth risking arrest over.

• Roof Clearance Lights and Push Bumper - Essentially just carryovers from the D-series. Clearance lights are commonplace on vans, while I think that vans with push bumpers are largely restricted to fleet vans that operate within large complexes (airports, ferry terminals, large industrial sites, perhaps even some racetracks). Regardless of whether it's realistic or not, it would still be nice to have the push bumper on the van simply for messing around in crashes.

 

Wait... a refresh has been confirmed? Where and when?

 

Well, kind of. In the devblog for the GM remaster they said the 1990's Gavril trucks will all be next to get the true body on frame treatment.
