Wow. Remaking Utah. I still remember when it was added. To be fair other than the veggie i dont see much being added. I'd rather see a remade JRI or the other island. If WCU ever gets remade i would like to see fixed all those small issues me and others complained. Having it be a fully city+outer parts map in a 4x4 would be much more interesting.
even pulling a "port/industrial" move, and putting the racetrack in a duplicate of the map, filling the middle of the one with the city with more housing/industrial estate, and perhaps having more oil fields or something surrounding the racetrack map.
Now that I think about it, the race course could be seen as out of place, especially with Hirochi Raceway getting that big update.
If for some career reason the race course on WCUSA has to be in the map just remake the map on a larger build able area and move it over to the island and have the highway go under the race course or vise versa. But I would be cooler to have the island be a nature park or port with closed bridge or a damaged on-ramp on the other side of the island.
It would be awesome to see a BeamNG map be set across two islands. Except for the city genre, it would be a unique aspect to WCUSA I suppose.
I'd love to see that also, but the video they showed only looks more of like a face lift rather than an attempt in a proper, full remake. Then again. that is showing just a small section of the map, so there might be something more substantial to be seen in other parts of Utah.
Honestly the performance on WCU to me has never been a big issue, and i loved the racetrack there. I just think that the city is so very small. If the track got moved into its own map and the rest of the map was used to expand the city i would be several times much happier. That's why i also suggested the 4kmx4km thing. Besids performance the main WCU complain was that it was a small place being filled with too many different biomes and nothing really meshed together well and it didn't really sell the idea of a livingbreathing economic city. --- Post updated --- On the other side, we've got Italy. The entire map is a single island biome that doesn't try to mix desert and forest, there are few cities here and there but sparsed over the entire map, and besides the airport the entire map is the same. Instead of making it feel repetitive it feels realistic because its exactly what a real place would look like.
With the rework of utah i really, really hope they redo the mess that is the intersection between the highway and bridge.
I like the fact that they made the road more distinguishable from its surroundings, I always had a hard time navigating with the hood cam on Utah.
that is one mess of an intersection. I'd suggest a rather compact , somewhat simplified trumpet interchange for that. Given, it may not quite fit, but a little tweaking of the terrain and it could work. Also, the bridge can't end in a 90 degree turn, as it does currently. It'd have to keep on going straight. As I said, terrain modifications would be needed. The intersection on the other side of the highway needs tweaking too... On another note, I'd like to see some sort of housing subdivision/little neighborhood. There's a lot of unused space and a small, recently built town would be great for career mode.
I would be happy with an extension of the highway. The map overall is fine, if a bit empty, but i want to see it expanded. I would like to see the huge bridge fixed with a road beyond it, and the tunnels to lead somewhere else
Personally, I'd like to see a salt flat or dried up lake bed on Utah, as well as a little ghost town.
Or heck, even 0. I’ve spent a while in small-town Minnesota, admittedly not the same as Utah, and I had to think if there was a single stoplight in the town I had in mind. I can only think of one, controlling an intersection of two two-lane highways, between the Chevy dealer, gas station, and Dairy Queen. Even though I grew up in suburbia, I think small towns are charming, and a half abandoned (maybe mining?) town would fit the map really nicely.
I was thinking a completely abandoned mining town near the current abandoned mine, plus a small, somewhat functional town.
It would be interesting to see the road going towards the cliff jump over the asphalt road. That could be a part of the town. Speeding through the mine town towards that jump.
