A list of updates/features for the remote control app If possible 900 degree rotation! Of course rotation lock will have to be turned on in the phone/tablet settings so the phone app can distinguish between upside down rotation. 900 degree rotating wheels/peddle systems usually start at about $200 base model. An app that simulates that would be revolutionary! A throttle/brake slider. So the throttle can be applied smoothly similar to a set of peddles, also this would add the ability to slide the throttle to a level that will allow smooth sustained cruising. Added buttons in the app. Buttons like turn signal / hazards / horn / nitro / also the main menu radial dial could show up in the phone app. / gear shifts / add and remove buttons ability Modding of remote control app. A way to allow modders to add things to the remote control app. For example: modders could make a map visible to show on the phone/tablet app, also the app could show a dedicated rear-view mirror (if possible) Vehicle view/stats. Would show the current vehicle in use with a picture, could include show stats menu on the phone/tablet Multiple device usage. Ability to pair multiple devices. Imagine a phone as the wheel and a tablet as the map, or phone as the wheel and a tablet as the vehicles stats, or a tablet with multiple apps viewed on it. To sum it up the remote control app seems to be overlooked for the greatest that it can be, I want to make sure the possibility of this app are fully explored, I think it can actually shake up the racing wheel market if utilized/patented correctly. At a certain point even charging actual money for advanced features would be warranted.
I already wrote about ''sliders'' in the ''BeamNG.Drive Remote Control App - Feedback and Bug Report thread'' about a year ago but there is still no improvement about this app. I don't think that It's hard to implement those things in the game and app...
Well the app is open source, so you can do what you want with it, and also, since it's open source, charging a premium for it seems unnnecessary. Edit: Here's the source: https://github.com/BeamNG/remotecontrol It hasn't been updated in 3 years though
Cool! Looks like there are alot of files, I don't know how to code at all and don't even know what programming language is being used, Can most of the stuff I listed be done? If I could figure out what language is used and some coding I would start with adding a throttle/brake slider
Hmm, Github usually states what languages are in use. I would guess it's Java (for the android app) and Swift (for the iOS app). For throttle and brake, it seems that the app sends only binary floats (ergo binary throttle), as opposed to steering left and right, which is between 0 and 1 (ergo analog steering) Edit: according to github, the repo is: 47.9% ObjectiveC 21.9% Makefile 17.7% Swift 12.5% Java
