Absolutely not. It was a cespool in the first place and basically anyone that doesn't run a modding group just uses discord.
The plan was to kill off all groups due to lag. The feature only exists today because there are a few active ones yet.
Thats Server lag so please stop asking about adding groups back, it will never happen, no matter how much you beg and cry about it, the answer is No and the admins and moderators have final say on the matter and if they say No, it means No period this topic is finished never to be discussed again
if you mean me, I am stating the facts, at one point there were a load of groups that got snapped out of existence and the others have remained reducing the Server lag and load @Nadeox1 sorry to bother you but what is the actual reason behind removing groups from the forums can you provide a more detailed answer?
The forum 'addon' that manages the groups is technically a boulder to the forum system. Everything related to it slows down to significant levels. Groups are not gone, they are still there, but we closed the creation of groups in order to avoid things to get slower, as well we cleaned up the several unused / empty groups that were existing. It was not used at best of its potential either, many where just jokes groups. Only a handful of them are actually that popular to give it a reason to be there. In general, I never see the reason for having such system, when nowadays you can just use Discord and co. Ideally, we would remove that plugin entirely sometime in the future (ideally, this is not written in stone, and even if we would put a notice before-hand)
out of curiosity, do you guys use a forum creation service, or a "template" of some sort? I saw another game forum that had a similar feel and layout to this one- same ratings (This one had like, dislike and a custom one), same icons and identical font.
Xenforo is the forum software we use. It's a kind of popular software, may look different due themes, but you can usually tell if another forum is using that too.
I know RaceDepartment use the exact same system as this forum site but yeah its good to know what system this site uses
