Better Ambient+Exhaust Sounds/Physics There's been some comments, including the above from TDK, about interior sounds which make me think proper convertibles are off the table until the audio system gets improved.
Is it possible to make a police skin for the Gladiator/Coronet sedan? having a police skin for that version would make more sense then the 2 door version
yeah, sure. anyway, I actually have a discussion thread right here: https://www.beamng.com/threads/firwood-skins-1-25-beamrepairs-van.63023/ so next time, please ask there, but I will.
Is BeamNG really "set" in any year at all? For all we know it could be set in the year 2050, we will probably still have 80s and 90s cars to smash by then. If I'm not mistaken, the main focus for this game originally was along the lines of demolition derbies, banger racing etc., so the amount of older cars makes sense.
Californian licence plate have registration stickers. There are two possible stickers you can get - blue 2019 and orange 2020. Month and year means when registration will expire. You need renew it each year. If that so why not every car have banger version (which I found strange that most of them are FWD who don't have this version)?
That's hardly a big clue to the "lore" of BeamNG, for plates that change every year I guess the most logical choice is simply the most recent one. I see your point, and it makes sense, but the devs aren't focusing much on keeping the game consistent in terms of time settings, etc. so I guess at the end of the day BeamNG can be set in whatever year you want The game isn't exclusively about demolition derbies, you can do a lot of fun things with cheap old cars. FWD cars aren't suitable for demo derbies, but you can still race cheap old beater Covets on a dirt track, for example, similarly to this photo (in which most or all of the cars portrayed are FWD): I would say the game has deviated somewhat from its original plan, though, seeing as the devs have implemented many features over the last years that, to say the least, are quite varied. This isn't a bad thing, of course, since BeamNG is essentially still a car simulator. This is all to say that, even ignoring the demolition derby-esque aspects of the game, the lack of modern cars could be explained by other things, such as complexity, or even research difficulties. It's harder to make a modern car accurate than it is to do the same for an old car, since there is probably going to be a lot more documentation available on older cars (and so their designs, technologies etc.) than with newer vehicles. This is just my idea, there could be a million reasons for it. Maybe the devs just like older cars more, or they want to prioritize "regular" cars, who knows.
2019 is supposedly when BeamNG will release something. https://weserreport.de/tag/beamng/ According to the Weser Report back in early 2018, Tdev said he expected that the game will be released "this year or next", supposedly hinting at a full release by the end of 2019. The 0.15 changelog from late 2018 states "on to career mode in 2019", which could either mean that either the full game or just career mode will be out by the end of the year, I personally suspect the latter, as there is just no way that 1.0 could be ready by the end of the year.
Its been over a year since they announced the new UI. We have heard no news since, so maybe that might be out soon.
Maybe an aftermarket one at best, because by the mid-80s fullsizes were one foot in the grave, and certainly weren't popular enough to warrant a convertible one.
Because those are just configs. They can be added at any time, compared to way back in 2012/2013 when the vehicle roster was being planned. Just look at the old threads and videos from that era, the game had a very different focus than it does today.
The next update will maybe bring different driving modes for the newer cars there was the brainstorm almost a year ago
The devs are a little bit silent at the moment when it comes to leaks and update information, the only thing that is confirmed now are the updates to Utah and the other old maps. But i would like to see a proper new campaigns to be added. But a Salad WeeWee is also fun to smash to bits.
https://www.beamng.com/threads/development-media.24313/page-3#post-1082553 New post of Utah, looks really nice
If I recall, the game actually adjusts the sticker color according to what month of the year your computer clock is set to, which is really nice attention to detail. I have some video clips from 2018 where the stickers are either blue or orange, for 2019 and 2018. Now, the stickers are either blue or yellow, for 2019 and 2020. This basically means that the game is "set" concurrently.
Do you (or anyone) have a source for BeamNG being intended as a demolition derby game? I see it mentioned a lot lately. I've been here since the beginning, and I have never heard of it before. Maybe it has gone over my head, but it sounds a little weird to be honest..
