Not a great deal of PostFX in these screenshots(they are on, but I like quite a mild PostFX setup) but I recently tried running BeamNG at 2560x1440 downscaled to 1080p, and it looks epic. Of the games that I've tried downscaling on, BeamNG has the biggest difference. This was running at 30fps@~60% GPU constant as I've limited it to stop my card overheating. Re: PostFX -> Post your PostFX settings file and try others! *Any* card can downscale, the problem is always performance. Also your screen might be a problem, my current monitor (a simple TN 1920x1080 monitor) can't downscale anything higher than 2560x1440, it just can't handle it and either shows a black screen or some random artifacts. However, both my IPS 2560x1440 and my other TN 1920x1080 monitors can go all the way up to 4k and even slightly above. Anyway, you only know if you try it Edit: I do it with my GTX 680 and performance is definitely a problem @4k, but only in newer games. Older games play awesome, I've been having a blast playing Burnout Paradise at 4k maxed out and it keeps the fps always above 40 which is OK for me However, for me at least, BeamNG isn't playable... at 4k I get about 15-25 fps maxed out and about 40-60 fps in low settings (which makes it look worst than playing at 1080p maxed out), at 2560x1440 it plays ok running at 30-50 fps - - - Updated - - - Looks incredible Did you have any luck downscaling from 4k? It would not be playable but it's an awesome slideshow hahaha
Re: PostFX -> Post your PostFX settings file and try others! Yeah the 770 seems fine with 2k at 30fps. It will run at 60 fps but then it's at 90%+ GPU usage, it sounds like I'm sat next to a jet engine with the cooling fan on full! To limit its fps I just set BeamNG to run v-sync at half refresh rate in nVidia Control Panel. If you're interested, these are the settings I've got, I basically just leave it all automatic. My monitor's not a fan of 4k It just goes black and flickers a little. If it did handle it, I reckon it'd probably be around 10fps at best, although you could get some amazing screenshots with it.
I know this isn't really the downscaling thread, but I got 1920x1536 (A 1.5x1.5 change, can't do full 2.0) but my beamng doesn't like it. (imported from here) Got it, looks awesome cant read text easily though.
I use lots of colorshift to make the game look a bit (In my opinion) Like its being shot with a real old camera. Just not in black and white! It goes perfect with the Zakspeed Capri on Green Coast.
Re: PostFX -> Post your PostFX settings file and try others! Why can't you run at 100% load? Graphics cards are made to run at full load, do you have overheating problems? - - - Updated - - - I think you have to run BeamNG at full screen for it to acknowledge the downscaled resolution. Also, this thread is all about graphics, it can be PostFX, downscaling, whatever, don't worry hahaha - - - Updated - - - I'm messed even MORE with PostFX and managed to finally get the look I wanted! This is my final update for PostFX files settings!!! I hope you like it, I even had to make a new Colour Ramp file for this one! I spent almost two hour just making it exactly like I wanted it. For that reason, installation might be a little more tricky. It will work if you use it just like a normal PostFX file, however, to get the full experience (with the new Ramp) you have to manually assign my Colour Ramp file. How to install: 1. Download and copy both files to your BeamNG install folder 2. Start the game 3. Click 'Options' 4. In 'PostFX Manager', click 'Load Preset...' 5. Find and choose the PostFX files you just downloaded, the new preset should apply right away 6. Still in 'PostFX Manager' find 'Color Correction' tab, select it 7. Under 'Color Correction Ramp', press 'Select' 8. Find and choose the 'NEWPOSTFXCOLOURRAMP.png' you just download 9. Save 10. Voilá! Any help you might need, just ask Edit: I noticed I can't click to download the 'NEWPOSTFXCOLOURRAMP.png', if you can't too, just use the 'NEWPOSTFX.zip' file, everything's in there
Re: PostFX -> Post your PostFX settings file and try others! It'll run fine at 100%, it stays around 80-85 degrees. The issue is that at 100% the fan is insanely loud, so I aim for the best graphics I can get and then try to get the GPU usage down. I don't mind 30 fps, as long as it stays completely constant I think it looks fine. Gonna give your Post FX settings a try, interested to see how much the colour ramp changes things.
Re: PostFX -> Post your PostFX settings file and try others! Yeah, 80-85 ºC is fine And I agree about constant 30 fps looking good enough. I always aim for 30+ fps, lower than that and it really bothers me, but if it stays above 30 all the time, it's fine. The colour ramp for me makes a world difference. Try with just the PostFX file for 5 minutes with a different colour ramp (choose the default one) and then change to the one on my post, I guarantee you will see the difference haha And that even if you don't like that particular colour ramp, it's quite easy to make a new one, for example, let's say you like the game looking more blue'ish, Battlefield 3 style, I can make that easily
I found a guide that worked better for me. It's a lot simpler. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=509076
i love these settings! i tried to improve the ssao settings because i think especially under the car on bright sunny days and in corners there should be a little more shadow but i didn'T work well. so now i just use your setting and am very happy. good base for screenshots and photoshop!
