Fields no but peoples driveways and woods yes (I'm also talking about "they have been there for so long the tires are deflated).
I found this in the "job applications" thread: Yeah, not a mod. Just a backseat moderator who is probably about 14. Ob: I would hope rope physics are getting at least some priority as they would make... a lot of things possible. We already have scenarios based around carrying another car on a flatbed so there is already a possible use for this.
Even something to the tune of Rigs of Rods’ rope physics would be nice, I think. Being able to strap things down on trailers and whatnot is a little thing, but a nice thing. It’d be especially nice for the rollback in my opinion, as you could incorporate it into a winch type of deal. Say you’re picking up a car with a blown engine, how do you drive that sucker onto the rollback bed?
Sort of, they're pretty simplistic. The only function they served that I can remember was tying down loads or vehicles to trailers.
I don't expect to see rope physics in game any time soon. The engine is not very good at handling smaller collisions, so I imagine that every time we rope something the rope will get stuck inside the geometry and jbeam. The only way we could get a rope would be to do something cheaty/hackey, and the devs really don't seem interested in doing anything like that in beamng. I think ropes and the tow truck are going to go the way of the dyno. However, as an alternative to ropes, I would like to see trailers get more nodes on the beds so we have more points to tie stuff down using the node coupler. It's currently pretty tough to reliably tie stuff down because the nodes on trailers are so few and far between, you are usually stressing out some point on the trailer or object you are trying to tie down.
Trailers in general need more modes IMO. As of now for the most part cars can still clip through parts and get stuck in them when crashing or loading things due to the lack of nodes.
Maybe the features that everyone thinks the game could really benefit from, I think get added in when the version numbers end with 0. Giving an example, people hated the single universal engine noise that was in early releases of the game, but for 0.10, they've started making immense progress on vehicle engine sounds. What I'm trying to say is, people have probably wanted ropables for years now, so perhaps it's a feature that we'll see in the 0.20 update. That's just a wild guess, but it's far enough ahead that it's a plausible hypothesis. Oh, I also just noticed... another feature that was added in 0.10 was node-to-node coupling. Coincidence?
Interesting, I believe there's a long time mod for strapping loads in Beam, no ? And in the case of lacking nodes for latching, that shouldn't be a big deal imo the nodes can be added for the use of that, no ? I also conclude from your posts that ropables would most likely exist out of strings of nodes and beams with coupler nodes on their ends. Is that an unstable concept ? Haven't gave it thought yet, will do..
Source Things worth a mention which have previously not been seen: New lore: 'Atturo' - Tire manufacturer New tires: 'Atturo Trail Blade Boss' Disregard - See below for info Big thanks to @Nekkit for discovering this post, so give him the credit - not me UPDATE: Found another pic on his insta
Actually I just did some research and discovered 'Atturo' tires are not a lore brand at all, but a real life one. These tires may be exclusive to the SEMA booth for Atturo tires and may never be seen in-game. Quote from Ferrettank:
Yea, definitely a plausible idea. More specifically improvements to the tire model in off-road situations. E.g. low PSI, crawling over rocks, driving through mud... I agree, although (providing it does get included in BeamNG and is not just a SEMA exclusive thing) I wouldn't be entirely against it. As long as they don't include real life vehicles I'll survive.
