I am interested why the Dev. Team decided to make some changes to the way color looks and feels in-game from the screenshots in the DevBlog. Utah, to me personally looks devoid of some color and needs some tweaking in that respect. It could be also the fact that the color pallet is different in some spots. Also, in the shot with the D-Series the rocks look somewhat shiny, almost to the point that it just rained, Dynamic weather Confirmed?! (no, most likely not).
Here We Go.. What We Know About 0.18 So Far. New Utah-100% For 0.18 D-Series/H Series/Roamer-Fully For 0.18. Hoppler-95% For 0.18 Traffic Improvements-Fully For 0.18. Electronic diff locking,Electronic AWD control-Maybe For 0.18 New Car-Nothing Known About It. New Lighting system-Very Unlikely For 0.18 Soilad Wendover-0% For 0.18.
One update in the old days had two cars (200BX and Roamer) , so there is a very slim chance that the new car won't be alone in its update.
They are also changing the brake meshes as they did on the Sunburst/Marshall/200BX, and I hope they update the Pessima brakes as well, that is a awesome car that big wheels seems weird with those tiny brakes.
You can see new brakes and suspension components (coilovers) on the D-series on the official youtube video of the new lighting, pretty much confirming the rework at this point
The main reason the 200BX didn't make it to 0.3.7.8 is probably because they needed more time to perfect the MacPherson strut setup (which was only possible after the Pre-Race Update introduced slidenodes) for the front suspension. Plus the interior still needed texture work. It also wouldn't have made sense to release it at that point because there was no longer an "experimental" branch of the game featuring such incomplete content (unlike the Gavril T75 and Hirochi Sunburst, which were also published simultaneously in 0.3.6.0 but were given different development timeframes; the T-Series would finally be "complete" by 0.3.7.8). Funnily enough, the 200BX, which was in development for a longer time than the Roamer I'm pretty sure, wasn't in the development snapshots for 0.3.8.1 either, at a time when the vehicle might have been considered releasable.
About the impoved service station, on the new picture the old building location still has the flattened land on it and it looks quite out of place and i am also a bit awkward on the bit that they still have the mess that is the utah bridge and highway interchange.
Someone should probably tell whoever runs the instagram that "#D-Series" resulted in ""#D" "-Series" It takes so much self restraint to not reply to all of the "plz add GTA carz1!!1!l!!ll!1!" Comments on their youtube/instagram content. Usually the self restraint doesn't kick in until at least 2 responses...
looks like 2013 BeamNG i like it lmao OT: devs whatever you do when reworking Utah do not remove this bump on the cliffside roads it's kinda hard to see but if you go there you can see it much better it presents so much challenge hillclimbing that road. lots of fun.
2013 (pre-cubemap update) BeamNG looks really dated to me. This has a similar effect. However, in the Instagram photo, I noticed something I didn't notice in the video: The new less reflective vehicle lighting still has some reflections in it, which the old 2013 version did not have, to the best of my knowledge. It actually does look more realistic to me, as real car paint definitely reflects light to the point where you can see things in it. The only part that looks off to me is the bright white area. That gives me some pre-race update flashbacks . Usually when they revamp maps they don't change the shape of the existing roads themselves, probably for AI/traffic and scenario reasons. Just all of the environment around the roads, and sometimes the textures (which is shown to be the case in Utah).
I like the effect on Hirochi Raceway. The redesigned map always looked kind of harsh and washed-out to me; this definitely looks to have changed. Utah, I actually think I liked the old color palette better. I'm absolutely not a fan of what's been done so far with the vehicle reflections. My lovely, delicious, shiny reflections... the current reflections look a lot like @Nathan24™'s current avatar, while the new ones look like a cross between old BeamNG and a game that tries too hard to have "soft" reflections. The vehicles in the videos look like they had semi-gloss paint at best. Reminds of old BeamNG and not in a good way.
Also worth mentioning these Chrome STX wheels are new. Currently the game only has Grey, White and (Black?) EDIT: Lighting improvements confirmed no impact on performance
