So I thought it would be pretty cool if some of the real experienced map/terrain makes people had a contest. If you want to be in the contest than comment. All you have to do is create a nice map and have it done by June 18th. The day of the 18th each person will post their map ( either before the 18th [just pm the name of the map and you name] or after) and one poll will be posted to let the community choose which terrain/map is the best. I don't know, just a suggestion that I thought would be pretty cool. Tell me your thoughts! Msurf15
like the idea... but having troubles with the deadline since its "in the air somewhere"... what if the race update comes out tomorrow? what if in 6 months? its hard to plan and create something cool without knowing how much time you have to do it.
Better to release their maps and mods when they want.... Mine is close for finish and i dont want to wait to release it when the race update comes out. Could be months till it gets released.
i will do it it. i may not be as experienced but i have fun making maps. i just hope the race update is not released tomorrow. when do we start?
Ok yea I see what y'all are talking about. Lol I didn't think about that. Whats today? the 18th? How about the 18th of June. That gives exactly 32 days to finish it. Keep in mind that you don't have to publish it on the 18. You can Publish it on whatever date in between. When you do release it just PM me and I will write down your name and the name of your map so I can create the poll on the 18th in an orderly fashion. Tell me if thats an ok deadline. Msurf15
This is good, we are getting some good new maps, and in a pretty good deadline too, I would do it but I've never tried, I might start though.
I would like to enter this contest, but I have already started the map. Am I still eligible to enter?
yep that's fine bro...just when you release it just Pm me your map name and I will write it down to put it in the poll
My motivation after i have been struggling with normal maps/uv mapping (or whatever it was called) on objects are about 0. The funny thing is that i actually have a map with terrain, vegetation and self-made objects, but i have given up on the torque3d texturing process as it is a nightmare to work with. So i got a map filled with white objects which is of no use So i deeply respect those that take the time to make maps with their own objects in it.
Normal maps aren't strictly necessary for good-looking materials. As for the Torque 3D material editor, yes I have found it quite frustrating. It took me about a week to figure out you have to hit 'Enter' before saving a material, or it'll be lost when you re-open the map.
In Torque3d just assume that everything is going to be frustrating, as far as i can tell that is just how it works. After my experiences in the map editor i feel sorry for LJFhutch OnTopic: I may have something ready for when the deadline comes around, depends on if i put enough time into it and don't forget about it. Sneaky pic...
