Update Speculation thread

I'm gonna put my chip in and say that's it's probably an EV. Since EVs are commonplace now, it would make sense to see a fully electric car in this game. Maybe it'll bring electric swaps with it?

 

No one seemed to notice this because you're all talking about the mystery car, but one of the loading screen images is of the crawler:

 

Crawler and that short D-series will be in Phase 2 update I believe.

 

I think we'll see the new car by the end of the year. The hopper and new car will be metered out over the holiday season so we don't get overwhelmed with new content in one update. Doing so will also help keep the workload down on the devs since they can focus on fixing all the bugs with each release instead of being swamped with all the bugs for the Utah remaster, d series rework, hopper rework and the new car. Besides, we've usually received teaser ls for new vehicles shortly before their release, never months beforehand.

 

I highly doubt it. I suspect that they wanted to get this update out and over with so that they can enjoy their own holidays without being stuck at the office fixing all the bugs.

 

i like the japan map idea, and i have an idea for the next update with the aRRow car:
Japanese, latest Acura NSX type vehicle with a hybrid powertrain and elements of the BMW i8 - from a new brand, possibly the equivalent to Mazda as we havent really had any Mazda-style Japanese vehicles:
RHD cars - an overhall for all vehicles that are likely to have been sold in RHD countries to fit into the Japan and Automation map, with mirrored interiors, custom configs and different parts for RHD markets
Spawn options - I'm suggesting instead of duplicating all configs that are basically the same for RHD they add two selectors below the colour selector where you can choose LHD or RHD (for suitable vehicles/configs) and manual or auto (for suitable vehicles/configs) - it'd fit quite well with the theme they have with 0.18 where they're cleaning up the configs menu, especially as it'd allow for a wider range of configs while still allowing easy choosing between gearboxes and driving side. i've included a crap ms paint mock-up of what it could look like (the gearbox options are grey as they're unchangable from auto)
this is half speculation, half suggestion, but i think it could work well

And the new lighting has made it seem pretty sweet, can't wait to see what its used for but i'm really hoping a first person walk mode will be included at least in this

Since a lot of the game vehicles seem to be from RoR, I'm wondering if the Gavril MZ2 will be the car. The grill structure definitely matches, and it could probably be built off the SBR4.

BUT! What if the SBR4 is the MZ2? They look a lot alike...

 

Where did you get this idea? None of the official vehicles are taken from Rigs of Rods.

 

It actually is a few cm shorter.

 

Oh boy. This update is a mixed bag. Im not sure if im dissapointed at the lack of content, or excited of what is coming. I got the feeling this is going to be a two part update, maybe with part two dropping on the 25th of December.
Also get your mind out of the stupid idea of an electric car, it is not. We already got an EV, we are not getting another one. Look at the clues we have, plus the logo. It is going to be an SUV.
