Hey there, I noticed the new dropdown menu in the traffic debug tool, and I was wondering: what does the "auto" awareness mode do exactly? I have seen traffic cars going faster than the max speed setting, does that have something to do with it? I'd like to hear!
Hi! The "auto" awareness is the default mode; the awareness gets internally set depending on the AI mode (e.g. Manual AI turns it off). As for the app's speed limit, currently it acts like a "base" speed limit for most roads. AI will go slower on rough or narrow roads, and faster on highways. That setting may get changed or removed if specific speed limit data gets added to roads on a map.
not entirely sure, but auto awareness is basically when ai are aware of their surroundings for example pulling over for police, or pulling to the side for an ambulance
Thanks for your answer! That clears up my question. The base speed setting really is a nice feature, as you don't have to manually adjust the max speed as soon as you enter another road type. The traffic AI is also much better around corners now, nice work! I was talking about the dropdown menu concerning the AI awareness you're mentioning. It has the options Auto, On and Off. I was curious about that
