In terms of non-working cars, I remember seeing some pontoon-styled early 50s US car (old Mercury? Mopar?) that basically was more rust hole than car, was stripped clean of anything of value and had a rattlecan pink paintjob. A Nysa 522 and an 80s Iveco Daily, both with so much rust that the body had literally collapsed on itself, also qualify. When it comes to running cars, I think it's my grandpa's 1999 FSO Polonez Caro Plus. Here's a list of the issues, and not necessarily a full one: three miscoloured doors and miscoloured sills (came from a close-but-no-cigar junkyard car), fading hood paint, dented front left fender, chrome peeling off the car, nearly having peeled off the lone original door, rear bumper held on wood screws, one protection strip fell off the front bumper and left glue marks, cheap 90s three-spoke alloys, wobbling gear shifter with the gaiter nearly torn off, cheap seat covers, a mess in the trunk, surface rust all over the underside. Another contender is a Renault Clio Mk2 with a rotten-out lower portion and peeling clear coat.
I've visited a guy's farm before, and he had the body of some 50's car (maybe a morris minor?) in a paddock, but it had been sitting underwater for probably 30+ years, so the entire thing was composed of rust. the roof had been torn off, it had no wheels on it, again, it was so mangled I don't even know what it was. no photos unfortunately.
Few years ago, there was one extremely terrible Opel Kadett E Wagon. Its suspension was so shot, that it was running so low, nearly like lowriders. Bodywork was also tatty. All scratched, with filler repairs, plus rust and mismatched right wing, in red. At the end, the smoke was coming from its engine, another reminder how big beater this car was. Now it's probably scrapped.
On the road: Probably my neighbors 2004 Ford Ranger. It is rotted to the point that he has been loosing parts on the road, he hit a deer with it last year, but he claims it runs too good to get rid of it. Non-Running: There is an old garage near me with a few old cars from the 40s and 50s out back that have probably been in the same place for 50 years. Hardly anything left of them, beyond restoration.
I've seen a few pickup trucks with frames that are about to or have snapped still going. Cars with missing bumpers (front and rear at the same time) doors missing and rear windows being covered with plywood.
My grandma's '98 Escort wagon Three mismatched hubcaps Cracked taillight Gearstick missing its plastic Climate control knobs all missing Rust everywhere Held together entirely by zip ties Just to name a few...
There's an abandoned garage across from my house with an old, rusty early 50's Ford F750 "Big Job" truck. It looked like it stayed in the same spot for a few decades and hasn't moved ever since, with overgrown weeds sprouting out behind the cabin. There was also an old 50's fire truck on the same property when I first moved into town, but that got moved a long time ago.
Friend's Subaru. Clearcoat almost gone, RR and RL wheelhubs nuke themselves every 20k miles, rusted-to-the-point-of-weight-reduction chassis, engine burns oil, etc. """""inherited""""" the car from his dad (Dad gave it to him as a first car after he finally realized it was falling apart.)
My first car. Background story: When I turned 18 in 2018, I got my first car, a 2001 Peugeot 206. In 2020, I was riding on the highway going home after visiting my uncle, when a maniac in a Scania hitted my poor little car and sending it into 2 other cars. I was fine, but of the 4 vehicles involved only the Scania survived.
