Don't like SO UGLY MIRRORS

    Can somebody clearly explain why the mirrors looks like from '80 videogames? The same reflections come back perfectly clean and detailed from very any vehicle paint surfaces, that EVEN (suddenly!) reflects the bodies of any cars around them. I think there are absolutly no reason to see that ugly mosaic pixels. I sure - that additional graphic phenomenon inventionally there and even slowing the overall performance of the game. Look forward for next update: the normal materials for mirrors the MOST WANTED for clean driver's view of environment AND SELF CAR BODY.

    Keep this opinion with me, please.

    Yes, you sure. But here is no progress at all. Just need set up the very regular material and remove additional calcs. The DRIVING GAME needs perfect first person view, included mirrors for no mistakes.

    Its like playing without the real wheel: somebody can play, but there are no real pleasure and immersion for really. Its only bad simulation of REAL PLAYING. Don't will the GREAT BEAM.NG feels like BAD SIMULATION. Sorry.

    Chill out buddy, if mirrors make or break a game for you, go back to Monopoly and Scrabble. They don't have mirrors at all for you to piss and moan about.

    Not as easy as you think...
    Reflections system works in a much different way.
    You essentially have I believe 6 cameras positioned in the center of the vehicle which depending on the graphical settings update at set frequency and detail creating a 360 degree view around the vehicle which is then projected on the mesh.
    To increase performance those cameras render only a single materials layer, hence why every vehicle in the mirrors looks chrome, also they don't render your current vehicle which is why setting additional cameras to the mirror position wouldn't really help much.
    Generally speaking, to get mirrors working properly they'd have to rework most if not all reflection system in the game.

    I have yet to see a driving game with perfect mirror visuals. Chill out, they will get there.

    I dont understand about 6 cameras... The reflections is GPU-impacted task.

    You can crank the dynamic reflection settings if it does anything for you. Other than that, just accept that it’s a small indie game that is incredibly expansive already.

    TL;DR: Crank settings and deal.

    Please please, stay civil. We dont want to annoy the mods during their winter vacations. Let the staff rest ffs.
    The reflections we have are the best the engine can handle. The devs are working hard to find ways to improve the game with the tools they have, and im fairly sure that on the long run we will see improvements on reflections. For now, as suggested before by another post, crank your reflections all the way up. Next time, please use the Search tool before making threads of stuff that has been suggested before.
    I feel like im pretending to be a mod, rest assure im not. Im just tired of seeing this stuff

    Okay, I don't think that the mirrors in BeamNG.Drive are very good right now, but I personally think that we should wait until BeamNG.Drive advances to complain about mirror related stuff. Sorry if I sound rude.
    To be honest, I think that statement is quite amusing.

    Um, what do you mean by that?
    Well, it certainly isn't a game that's made by a big company like Nintendo. I'm not sure I would call BeamNG.Drive small, but it might be an indie game.

    I figured out a fix for the pixelated mirrors and it actually doesn't have anything to do with dynamic reflections.

    Deleted the normal map from the mirror material, modeled a new mirror with a convex shape.

    I had that issue up until 0.18, I believe. Could just be that the image was taken in an older version or something of the like.
