What are "airbag steering wheels?"

    A dumb question, I know, but I see them everywhere and nobody asks. It seems to me that the only reason they're called that is because of the texture on them, but again, why would the whole name of the steering wheel be based on that detail? This is very misleading.

    airbag steering wheels are thicker and have a centre that fits an airbag

    the only real difference is the 3d model
