All I had to do to pass my drivers test was take a written exam and demonstrate that I could park a car. I parked so poorly that the corners of the car were on the edges of the parking space, and I tapped a cone. I had only first gotten behind the wheel 20 minutes before taking my test. According to the DMV, you can brush the cones as long as it is with the plastic bumper because it "causes no damage." And people wonder why driving in Florida is so bad. *I have gotten much better at driving than when I took the driver's test.
Mandated backup cameras for all new cars built during and after May of 2018 means that you can no longer buy a new car without an infotainment screen in the U.S. It sucks.
I've seen a fair number of cars with the backup cameras placed in the rear view mirror instead of an infotainment system. On another note, I have a 2006 Ford Explorer to scrap since somehow the little V6 fails emissions tests now while my 6mpg V8 Jeep is fine... Anything I should take off first? I'll probably grab the radio and battery. Maybe the alternator?
I struggle to call this infotainment, yet shows my backup camera just fine. That’s one of two pieces of modern tech I actually like. The other is blind spot monitoring/blind spot mirrors. They’re very nice to have.
So one of the parties of my country now wants to forbid us to have petrol pickups here for the sake of saving the climate. One thing i find stupid is that we only sell 25000 pickups per year and nearly 90 percent are diesel so why bother with that? Its not like its going to change anything. Also they're always trying to get a speed limit on our motorways and the have already raised taxes on petrol wich now costs up to 20 cents more. Its not like we will drive less because petrol is more expensive the only thing is that theyll make more money off of us without actually saving the climate.
3 kinds of drivers: Law abiding ones, a bit like the 2nd option (confident) but have to follow some rules as you have blackbox/other stuff Confident drivers (experienced, you sort of take road rules as guidance on how to drive) I've just passed my test, will follow every single rule possible and not have any confidence. The 1st one is me, i would love to be the 2nd one but sometimes it's good to be quite vigilant, but there is a price to pay if you are too vigilant, like I have known someone come and drive one of the cars we have on private land, you can tell he is gripping the wheel far too tightly, the steering is jerky as he is doing the wheel shuffle, and you can just tell he has had no experience actually driving, only driving to pass a test no more... He eventually lost control on a corner and car landed in grass... Christmas has caused some really terrible drivers to come on the roads, the once a year drivers who just stop at an empty roundabout.. then look... then go..... I guess its better than being overconfident (or worse, drunk driving..)
Welcome to the wonderful world of virtue signaling, where it doesn't matter if you accomplish anything useful just as long as you make life more expensive, less fun, and overall harder for the little people and can recite all the "correct" reasons when asked why. You missed the third kind, the "I have a right" cyclist who has multiple functioning automobiles but enjoys being annoying anyway. I don't even consider these people drivers but as they are always so keen to point out, bicycles are technically vehicles according to the law so as far as I'm concerned they're fair game to call out.
Slams desk through the crust and into the upper mantle of the earth WHY IS IT YOUR SOUL PURPOSE TO MAKE EVERYTHING ABOUT BICYCLES AND ELECTRIC CARS AND HOW YOU VIEW THEM AS DESTROYING CAR CULTURE DESPITE COMPLETELY NOT DOING SO.
Apparently he both has nothing better to do, and has a fetish for claiming you can only be into cars if you're into racing American cars only and any other love of vehicles cannot exist.
What year is your mustang? It's a nicely minimal setup. Since the mandate of backup cameras, a great number of even the cheapest cars have adopted infotainment screens. Technology sells.
Mine is a '16, but I can confirm that at least up to '19 is set up exactly the same. I like physical buttons, tbh. Never been much of a fan of touchscreens in cars. Yeah, they're really cool to play with, but kind of hard to use when flying blind paying attention to the road.
I just put a Sony touchscreen in my pickup and I like it a lot. Apple carplay/Android auto are super handy. It still has some physical buttons plus I have steering wheel buttons. Next up is a backup camera because it makes hooking up trailers far easier. Touchscreens that take over physical buttons for stuff like HVAC controls suck though. I've been thinking about buying a new bike, do you have one that you'd recommend? I love annoying people with my big, loud diesel pickup and I want to make sure I can annoy people just as much with my bicycle.
Mmmmm clicky-clacky buttons are great. For a while I wanted to make a whole center console out of one of those '80s PCs but then I realized how unendingly lazy and poor I am.
so, ended up buying the 2stroke scooter, it runs, stops, is comfortable, but idles a bit high and needs a better fuel/oil mix paid £100 and got a motorbike helmet thrown in for free
