Not really. They work best in clean, lean-burn systems which L-jet is not. --- Post updated --- Valve guides are less than perfect. When I mess with the distributor or ignition controller, it briefly works. It starts (barely) runs fine (not great), stalls, and then tries to run backwards.
I don't really care to know if the head gasket is leaking unless it starts showing more obvious symptoms of it.
Ordered new hood badge, new parcel shelf hinge clips, new clutch pedal rubber and a new shorter aerial for the GT. Hopefully selling the Coupe tomorrow.

Picked up a 09 Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor to replace my Acura RSX. Going to have way more fun modifying this, got some big plans for it too. Supercharger, going with a comp style cam, headstuds, might do a performance intake manifold, mustang rear axle/suspension and to finish off a 5 speed manual swap.
Found where my Mountaineer's coolant was going. Hose from the bottom of the radiator to the water pump was leaking at the water pump. Strange, because the hose is under a year old. Put on by the previous owner, some cheap shit. Adjusted the clamp and fixed it for the meantime.
Bought a Crown Vic without wholly intending to. I walk in the place and next thing I know I'm bidding on a crown vic. I ended up with the third one down, a 2007 P71 with 94k miles, out the door for $1150. Seems pretty sound mechanically besides an ABS warning light. There's some damage on the front bumper, the windshield is cracked, and the interior is a wreck. I should be able to clean it up and make some money on it.
This thing is trashed. It seems the police garage employs a team of chimpanzees to decommission the old police cars. None of the seatbelts are bolted in. A lot of the interior pieces are missing or broken. I need a rear seat back/bottom, both rear door panels, both rear sill plates, both b-pillar trim pieces, and a head rest for the front passenger seat. The windshield was cracked during the removal of a dash cam mount. There are two holes in the roof from the light bar and antenna wires that will need to be plugged. The front bumper cover was scuffed up and cocked to the side from some sort of lateral impact. Removed it, cleaned it up as much as I could and reinstalled it. Diagnosed the ABS warning light as a faulty ABS module. Discovered that the horn doesn't work. Topped off the transmission and power steering fluid. More pics
A quick sand and clear coat would do wonders for those headlights, or even one of those cheap polishing kits.
I've heard that some areas let prisoners do the job of "civilianizing" old cruisers, and, well, they take out their frustrations about as much as they can get away with.
That actually really sucks, In Canada decommissioned crown vics are extremely well taken care of. The police send them to the manufacture who installed the police equipment to remove all of it, so I got lucky and my car has been put back together immaculately. They've left some stuff in mine though (All ballistic door panels, Anti stab seat inserts, Gun racks, trunk organizer, siren are still in mine.) Plus when I bought mine I got all service records since the RCMP had bought it from ford.
Did you buy your vic freshly decommissioned from the RCMP or a private seller? In the US, or my area at least, where its common practice for prisoners to be tasked with decommissioning, police cars are very rarely auctioned off with immaculate interiors. When I've bought cars with left over police equipment like laptop mounts and such inside I've removed it and sold it on eBay. I've bought crown vics from 3 different law enforcement agencies and they all strip them differently. They've all needed some interior work to get into a marketable condition, but this most recent one is the worst by far. The rear seat/door panels/sill plates are missing because this agency replaces them with metal door panels and rear seat when the car is new. The original parts were sold separately long ago. The rest of the interior that's present in this car is coming together pretty nicely. I'm should be able to get a new windshield installed cheaply. I've attempted to repair the broken b pillar trim pieces with epoxy. I had to do the same repair to the same trim pieces in 2/3 previous crown vics.
In fairness, the US is one of the only Western nations where prison labour is even legal, Canada as far as I can figure out can't use convicts to decommission.
