yep, pilots are more reliable than flight computers. This was not the pilots' fault. The problem was priority, for example, in some situations, especially emergency ones, the computer want to pitch down and the pilot want to pitch up, the plane should pitch up instead of pitch down. The pilot's command should always be 1st priority without "disable" anyting manually. Note in the Qantas Flight 72 when the plane was pitching down, the pilots did pull back on the stick but the plane did no response for 5~10 seconds. Especially you are in the car, where the car is being controlled by someone/something you couldn't even see.
Speaking of "remote controlled" passenger cars... Imma just leave this here for anyone who hasn't seen it and is interested
Exactly, remote controlled cars seem like a really bad idea. That said, someone may be able to execute it very well though
A 2018 WRX STI (one of my achievable dream cars) is about $34,700 as of right now. In a decade it will be reduced to about $29,400. Assuming I find a well paying job by the time I'm 21, will it be worth it? I hear they aren't hell to maintain and I've met people with older WRX's and their cars work fine.
I just stumbled upon a list of all the brands FCA-PSA has the rights to. It's quite a long one... Abarth (Italy) Aixam (France) ALFA/Alfa Romeo (Italy) American Motors/AMC (USA) Autobianchi (Italy) Calcott (UK) Chalmers (USA) Chenard-Walcker (France) Chrysler (USA) Citroën (France) Clément-Bayard (France) Coventry Premier (UK) Darracq (France) De Soto (USA) Delaugère et Clayette (France) Dodge (USA) DS (France) Eagle (USA) Essex (USA) Fiat (Italy) FNM (Brazil) Frazer (USA) FSM (Poland) Graham-Paige/Graham (USA) Henry J (USA) Hillman (UK) Hudson (USA) Humber (UK) Imperial (USA) Innocenti (Italy) Itala (Italy) Jeep (USA) Jeffery (USA) Jewett (USA) Kaiser (USA) Lancia (Italy) Maserati (Italy) Mathis (France) Maxwell (USA) Mega (France) Mors (France) Nash (USA) O.M. (Italy) Opel (Germany) Overland (USA) Paige (USA) Panhard/Panhard et Levassor (France) Peugeot (France) Plymouth (USA) Rambler (USA) Russell (Canada) Simca (France) Singer (UK) SRT (USA) Stearns-Knight (USA) Sunbeam (UK) Sunbeam-Talbot (UK) Talbot (UK/France) Valiant (USA) Vauxhall (UK) Vulcan (UK) Willys (USA) Zastava/Yugo (Serbia) Zust (Italy) --- Post updated --- "Pilot error is nevertheless a major cause of air accidents. In 2004, it was identified as the primary reason for 78.6% of disastrous general aviation (GA) accidents, and as the major cause of 75.5% of GA accidents in the United States." I'm afraid they aren't.
Except the official reports on both 737 max crashes the plane *did* pitch up when the pilots forced it to, issue was once they released the controls it then pitcheddown again as the primary stall sensor was broken, pilots ignored the warning light in one flight and it was not fitted in another, pilots failed to simply press one button to disable the system and the software bug caused the system to identify that only one of 3 sensors was detecting a stall and should therefore ignore the stall scenario --- Post updated --- Also goes for every test flight since, flights have been conducted by trained pilots with sensors programmed to fail mid way in --- Post updated --- At no point did the plane ignore pilot input. Pilots were simply poorly trained on the MCAS system and did not handle it's failure scenario well. It is a terrible system, but the accidents were entirely preventable with human intervention
Interesting Anyways, I hope you can find a good job that you like and you get lots of money from Update: @SuperAusten64, Just curious, why doesn't that seem like much of an argument to you?
A typical comsumer electronic, a laptop battery is about 40Wh, and a typical EV battery is about 60kWh. Thus you need to mine 1500x more minerals to make an EV than a laptop.
So, is that why the "yeah, it's not just mined for EV batteries, it's mined for nearly all consumer electronics, too." doesn't seem like much of a argument to SuperAusten64?
Infortainment is really distracting, in fact, you cannot even turn the air conditioner without looking at the screen, and touchscreen is also less reliable than physical buttons. If your car is without infortainment, you can tune your radio and A/C while driving normally without distraction, with infortainment, you have to physically look at the screen to make sure you don't "press" the wrong "button" I drive conservatively IRL and I barely triggered the ESC, but I do find a major problem in BeamNG's ESC, the ESC only reduce oversteer and does not reduce understeer, this makes emergency evasive manuvers and tight turns more sluggish and contributes to run off accidents, in tight turns the ESC should tuned to neutral, reducing both understeer and oversteer. After this tuning, \ ESC on is more fun to drive than untuned ESC on. Tuning this is very simple, browse your vehicle folder and open the (vehiclename)_esc.jbeam, adjust the Code: "maxSideAcceleration":10, to 15~30 and make the ESC 100 times better
Most base and some mid-range trim levels of cars come with tiny, non-touch LCDs for the mandatory backup camera and have regular buttons for everything else. Even if you wanted a higher trim level, I'm sure there would be a way to order one with a base model dashboard.
What cars is everybody driving that completely remove physical buttons when you option an infotainment screen? Any of the modern cars I've driven still have buttons/knobs for the main controls. Even the newer Rams that have the massive 12 inch screen still make room for physical buttons.
@default0.0player If you drive your car hard enough to activate the ESC you'll see that it sucks IRL just as much as in BeamNG. This is my slalom course.
Voice control is pretty unreliable as of now, and also I don't want Elongated Muskrat spying on me/s Seriously though voice control is shit.
Driving down the highway today doing 70mph at under 2k RPM today and only got up to 12.2mph The trackhawk gets almost the same city mpg as my Grand Cherokee does on the highway. Clearly the only logical thing to for me to do is to swap my N/A 4.7L for a supercharged 6.2L.
