slow downloads

    Hi, I just got my new internet and my speeds are very fast, as are my speeds while browsing the forums. But when I download anything I only get around 500-600KB/s


    My normal download speed is between 2-17MB/s

    What could be causing such slow downloads?

    As you can see something is wrong. What coule be causing my connection to drop to such low speeds when downloading from BeamNG?

    Speedtest takes a very fast server near to you, and then starts a download in order to measure the numbers.
    That's pretty much an ideal case.

    Not all websites have servers near you, and in that case you will not get download speeds that can saturate your bandwith.
    Forum attachments do not use our CDN if I recall correctly, so the download is happening between your location, and our main server (somewhere in Germany)
    Repository mods uses a CDN, which is basically a distributed network: you get the download from the closest server near you, and in that case you get higher speeds.

    Repo mods are often slow too. Even mods that were updated/uploaded multiple days ago can have this issue, not just newly updated/uploaded ones.

    It mainly depends on overall traffic and your location, it's not something we control ourselves.
