It was dirt cheap and marketed as a no-frills family crossover instead of a pretentious sportscar like the former Dodge version no one really wanted. Undercut the korean-built Chevrolet Captiva by quite some margin, it was roomy, it ditched the atrocious cardboard interior of the original, it was powered by a (marginally) better Diesel engine than the ancient VW four pots in the early models... that, plus a better-known badge is all it needed to do better than the Journey.

Other huge and clumsy vehicles that were rebadged at the same time of the Journey - the Town & Country, the 300C and the dreadful 200 Convertible - were just that, huge and clumsy. Slapping the brain-dead Lancia badge on their bonnets did them no favor.

Here in Puławy,Poland, it's the big Chrysler minivans that are the greatest Mopar hit. They may not be a minivan staple like the Renault Scenic, Citroen C4 Picasso or Opel Zafira, but they have quite a niche in the market.

We have a lot of minivans in general. The largely lower-middle-class populace with a disinterest in cars really likes them for offering a lot of room in a compact package for not so much money.

Pretty much everywhere in Europe. The Austrian-built Voyager (and, later, the PT Cruiser) was traditionally the only vehicle they could sell in reasonable numbers. Then FCA happened, they rebadged the last-gen Voyager as a Lancia and sank it for good.

I was talking to Gabe during the design of that thing. The car's based off of a "what if". Essentially, modern power but with 90's era bodyweight. ESC was quite necessary when that thing first released. There's so much potential in a car that's based wholly on a hypothetical. The electric version was a good start :)

This might explain why I've always felt it's a bit weaker structurally than the K-Series - it's a lightweight, but less safe, car.

Or maybe the fact that the engine's in the back thus making the front weaker?

I'm not talking about the front, I'm talking about stuff like doors popping open rather easily, weaker passenger cell, etc.

To się zgadza, to pewnie dlatego, bo bodajże w 2012 roku Dodge wycofało się z Polskiego rynku a importować się chyba nie opłaca takich aut zza oceanu:)

The Fiat Freemont is basically the same thing, and it was sold in most European countries.
