Today I had to pull the tranny on my '91 Chevy Caprice because it started leaking oil like crazy at the torque converter. I wasn't too mad since a transmission rebuild was way overdue because when it went in lock-up the car shuddered like crazy and the torque converter was making weird noises for over a year now. Ended up replacing the torque converter, lock-up solenoid, some wiring harness and the front pump. Now my Caprice shifts and drives as it should and the difference is really noticeable. No more oil leaks, lock-up is working properly, shudder is gone, the rattling noise from the torque converter is gone, and the car now creeps again when I let go of the brake in D. Next week I'm gonna have to remore my steering wheel and airbag to disassemble my steering column since I got the wonderful GM tilt steering column where screws get loose somwhere and then the steering wheel feels like it's gonna come off while driving. Also the ignition lock cylinder broke yesterday but that's kinda convenient actually since I'll have to remove all of that stuff anyway. Wish me luck.
You don't have to like it but the fact that the first and only thing you could think of to say is "that's illegal" speaks volumes.
It's not even illegal. This car has been like that for 3 years, and cops have still not given a crap about the Del Sol. There is trucks that have larger wheel poke than that little car.
Fixed the ABS fault on my Crown Vic with a $27 ABS module off of a scrapped 2005 Grand Marquis. Also got some miscellaneous interior pieces like the rear sill plates, sun visor retainer clip, head rest retainer, and some brackets for the rear seat and doors. Still looking for rear seat and door panels. Installed the interior rear door handle-latch actuating rods so now those will function once I find some door panels. Plugged the holes in the roof. I need to replace the transmission output shaft seal and I believe some oil cooler lines to fix the fluid leaks.
Something being illegal and cops enforcing it aren't the same. Technically it is illegal to go over the speed limit at all but at least in the part of the US I live you'll never be pulled over for exceeding the limit by just a few mph (I stick to 5 personally).
I ordered some cosmetics for my Jetta's interior like a pillar panel and rear vent housing. Last week I had an oem-style spoiler installed (pictured).
My Miata has sadly reached a fate, I got hit Friday last weekend on my way to a date, Kid in his moms SUV didnt see me and hit me. Not very happy right now, but im working on getting her looking good and finding some parts to go ahead and jumpstart my modding.
Started to dig in to replacing the head gasket on the Regal. I have nearly all of the organization/labeling done today which is the hard part. I also got the fuel rails, upper intake manifold, and throttle body off today. The old upper intake manifold is plastic and severly warped, allowing coolant to get into the engine. I placed it on a table and could rock it back and fourth about a millimeter (may or may not post video) and there were visible gaps between it and the throttle body. I have bought an upper aluminum intake manifold that was on a series 3 3800 from a junkyard. All I need is an adapter for the throttle body and everything should fit together once I fix the head gaskets.
Been doing little things here and there making it a just a little nicer and took some pics last night.
I patched a hole in my floor so it will pass inspection. I’m going to replace the floor pans eventually, but for now I just riveted a sheet of metal in there. I forgot to get an after picture. I also added some vent visors. Ignore the dirt, I was going to wash it, but it’s pointless since it’s going to snow tomorrow.
Took it to a specialist for a service, cam timing is a little off and it's misfiring a little on idle. Just had to stay in there for a bit to admire the classics he had in the workshop.
Fitted a Alcantara Armrest and tried if the front Splitter will fit on the car wich luckily it does so im going to fit it when its a bit warmer again.
Got it stuck in the driveway trying to get to work (don't judge me, I have a stupid driveway and we just got a ton of snow dumped on us), evaporated 25 minutes on the phone trying to get a tow truck to pull me out, had to borrow a car to get to work on time, then ask my 4x4-driving neighbor if he could pull me out... which he could, albeit it required dragging the car halfway down the driveway through massive snowbanks in order to get it to a place where it could once again move under its own power. (Of course, all the snow that I've shoveled out of the driveway and pushed off to that side had to come back to haunt me at some point...) Hopefully the next time I go to drive it the tailpipe isn't too clogged with ice to actually run. ...I think I'm going to try to move to another state before next winter.
I replaced a seized brake caliper, bled the system (pressurizing the reservoir works AMAZING) and made sure everything was working on the circuit. The clutch (on the same system as the brakes) was soft at first but firmed up. Then it flat-out refused to start. I charged the battery, and it fired up like a champ. Just completed the work flow for redoing the valve cover, intake manifold, throttle, and valve lash adjustment. It’s going to be out of service for a month or two but it’ll be worth it. (Hopefully) Oh jeez. Hope it gets fixed up right!
