Most of UI is missing, shows missing image link icon

I recently picked up this game to play again after a few months, selected the drive in steam and loaded it up and it seems that something at some point went wrong because all the UI ingame, and all the images outside of the game are just straight up missing.




I've tried an integrity check and all, but that doesn't seem to help, likewise with a reinstall of the game, the problem persists.

I've reinstalled it to multiple different drives and reinstalled my drivers and restarted my computer multiple times, this issue has been going on for around 2 days now.

If anyone has any clue how to fix this, please share! Thanks!

Try clearing your game cache and then reverifying via the Steam Integrity system checker

To get to the integrity checker

1. Right click on the game in steam
2. Click Properties
3. Select Local Files
4. Click "Verify Integrity of game files..."

and you should be done

 

I've tried resetting the game cache and all too, no help, sadly.

Have you tried running BeamNG in safe mode?

 

Yep, nothing.

 

Did you install any mods?

 

Nope, and if im correct safe mode disables them anyway so that wouldn't matter, right?

 

What did you do before you loaded up the game? Did you buy it twice? Do you have two different copies on two different drives?

 

If i'm correct, when i loaded it up before it was on a completely different install of windows, so basically everything changed, originally i launched the old install because it was still on another drive as i dont wipe my other drives after reinstall, so i actually used the exact same version as i did the time before to play it, just, it didn't work.

I've deleted every single reference to BeamNG on all of my hard drives and then reinstalled the game, no luck. I cant seem to do anything to make it work

I've only ever bought this game once and that was on steam, i just set the install location to the same location as the old one and it picked up on the files and let me launch the game, after some updates.

I've now even destroyed every mention of it in my registry with no luck

 

I've already done a clean install but i'll check my antivirus, i wouldn't expect the built in windows 10 one to be messing with it though, as that's all i have.

 

Are you able to try a fresh installation from Steam to a different directory?

Is the system able to run other games from Steam without issue?

 

Other games on steam run fine, and like i said in the original post, i've even tried different physical drives with no luck.

 

I'm unable to check right now, but can you check the size of the BeamNG folder within SteamApps? Someone here should be able to compare to ensure you have all the data intact

Done a clean install after adding an exception, the same issues continue.

Game folder is 14.3gb

In the inspector, all the images show up as this same missing image icon, even though they actually do exist in the folder itself.

So it's nothing to do with missing assets i know that much.

 

I don't seem to have any of the apps mentioned here (though i do have some adobe apps installed, but not the specified one) and moving the userfolder location sadly doesn't help (put it in J:\bmng)
