I had a SAAB 92-X. Don't get one. They drive nice, look nice, and sound nice, but they are expensive to fix especially if you don't work on it yourself. If you can afford the repairs/maintenance, then go for it.

What about demands about less chauvinistic factors than nationality?

Would this be your only car? Also are you comfortable doing work on your own car?

I'm going to have to give a big no for any Subarus unless they have a warranty. Mine had every issue in the book. The only thing that did work was the heated seats, but they aren't useful at all in Florida. If I were you, I would get something domestic that doesn't handle but is also cheap to own. You can learn so much about driving at the limits of grip and have a lot of fun without exceeding the speed limit.

That to me sounds like it would be expensive to own when you factor in insurance. Insurance is where they really get you.

That sounds a bit more reasonable to me. You could probably find a decent used Golf. I've never owned one, but I would assume their insurance is nowhere near like the kind a Porsche would get.

My personal advice when it comes to buying a vehicle, is to find something within your budget, really get a look at it, and compare it to others you've also found, to see which one looks the most promising to you.

I second getting a Golf GTI. Compared to the other cars you listed parts are cheaper and more readily available not to mention labor costs and insurance. I don't know how reliable they are from first hand experience but they are certainly better than a 30 year old Porsche. :p

Also, if you really wanted a Porsche 944 turbo (924 was N/A), I don't know how you would even find one in decent condition for less than $10k.

Oh, I've never seen one, thanks for correcting me. I still don't think you can get a worthwhile example for the price but they're cool cars nevertheless.

Under 10k could get you a Miata, if you like rust.

IRL, why would I talk about in-game?
I was also talking about the NA and NB models. Sorry for the confusion.

The cars you suggested yourself are all in very different categories. Ask yourself, what your needs are.
    Practical? Efficient? Fun? Reliable? Fast?

Also, why is the origin of the brand important to you? I don't blame you at all, just curious.

Toyota avalon. Bought mine for $1500 a year ago and I pretty much beat on it daily. 123k on it and runs like a champ.
