Its been nearly 3 months since the last update, why does it take so long and where can I get updates or posts from the developers?.
1) They have to check the lines of code to make sure it doesn't break anything or even potentially break the entire game 2) Making new content can be very time-consuming, and add on all that research time, it will probably take a while 3) It can also take a long time especially if there's less than 100 people working on the game 4) "When it's ready"
In addition IMHO its pretty impertinent to practically demand new content. After all most games and programs don't get updates at all or you have to pay for DLCs. BeamNG.drive has had free new content ever since it was started in 2015.
Please... Even if we were on version 0.15 (if not earlier) this thing would still be awesome ! Look at how much we are getting here ! Bury that greed and enjoy your life !!
Yeha, and...? They can take even 3 years if they want to. Developing content takes time, especially for something complex like BeamNG where A LOT of research goes into it
To be fair, the game is in Early Access, and a lot of people will have bought it expecting it to grow into more than a sandbox with some scenarios (only a few of which stand out as something that you'd want to play more than once, and the game doesn't even remember which ones you've already finished (nor at what time/score), so what's the point?). While I respect how much time they're spending on perfecting details that most players won't notice/appreciate, I think that it's perfectly reasonable for people to start growing impatient, as Beam is still basically a tech demo almost 7 years after it went up on sale. If you don't have the expected amount of appreciation for the quality of vehicle/physics simulation, there just isn't much 'game' here, and so it's easy to understand wanting more from it.
You are right about that point of view but realize that once the early access thing is over the evolution will be too. The price tag will be too. And then what ? BeamNG 2 The Sequel ? I just LOVE the way the devs handle this and let's not forget the physics are much more important then the scenario's or 'Career Mode'. My opinion ? This is a simulator and it has playful luxury.
Each update comes out within every 5-6 months if I'm not mistaken, it takes time for the people working on the game to code, model, render, etc. If they were to rush it, it could cause game breaking problems or just problems in general. People won't be happy about it either. So please, just be patient dude.
Yeah, why not have a sequel? I generally don't like playing games in Early Access as it robs me of the complete ("definitive") experience with the game - the first impression, that sticks with you the most, that you never forget. If I didn't have such love for destructo-physics, I'd still be waiting for full release, and I have no doubt that this isn't a rare way of approaching gaming - I'd much rather do it without having to forgive shortcomings, resultant of the game just not being complete. Right, as a simulator, Beam is certainly great, but we've been promised a career mode since the beginning, and they don't seem to be interested in delivering on that. The main things lacking towards being able to turn this simulator into a full game is component wear and ability to repair individual parts, and if they were more focused on delivering a full game, I'm sure that these would've been added long ago, even considering the inevitable complications of implementing these mechanics. (at some compromise elsewhere, no doubt, though if they focused their resources more on programming rather than art (the game has enough maps, vehicles and parts already IMO), the all-important simulation quality would likely not be any worse.) Once that's done, it's not THAT difficult to write all the necessary logic for a full driving game career mode.
3-4 months is standard nowadays. 0.18: December 2019 0.17: August 2019 0.16: May 2019 (I think this was delayed due to Nvidia Driver issues) 0.15: December 2018 0.14: October 2018 0.13: July 2018 0.12: March 2018 0.11: November 2017
You have an honorable opinion and I respect it. Though I stick with the devs and fully support the way they are handling this. I think this has something to do with 'the big picture'. Either way, better Beam then No Beam right ?
