So I have a question about the games sound options in the sound providers. I want to know what is best for dynamic sound. Direct Sound is annoying because it just blares the engine and wheel-related sounds. XAudio2 glitches the engine in the cockpit across both channels which is disorienting. Whereas Open AL requires a reboot of the game to start and is just another Xaudio2 to me? How can I fix this channel switching? Do I need a premium dedicated sound card to fix this sound catastrophe? What does it take to enhance the sound dynamics of this game? Is it possible before the devs rework the sound? I have used default and edited sounds... I just want to fix Open AL / XAdudio2 incar/cockpit sounds. Please Help Me Sincearly, Slayersen Note: On many other games on my system I get this distinctive ugly channel switching and at times sounds choose to play on no channel for about a millisecond depending on the orientation of the sound source in the game. (when using hardware-mode sound only)
Re: Sound Providers? Xaudio2 and Open AL sound issues? Wanting more dynamic sound. I believe that sound fixes are in the works, just not top priority...im sure they want to have it sound like FM5 but we need slidenodes first. give slidenodes!! love.
Re: Sound Providers? Xaudio2 and Open AL sound issues? Wanting more dynamic sound. The channel switching seems to happen because some sounds, engine for example, have their source at the first internal camera node. I guess the position lags a bit or is not precise, so the source moves around the camera slightly. Particularly annoying with surround headphones. Not sure if there's much you can do except add a camera somewhere else, or maybe edit sounds.lua and change the source node.
Re: Sound Providers? Xaudio2 and Open AL sound issues? Wanting more dynamic sound. I never played FM5 and I wouldn't say I want this game to sound like an AAA game of Audiorealistic atm or anything but all I am trying to say is the audio is weird to me in my duel channel headphones (THIS USED TO BE REALLY BAD IN A PAIR OF FULL 5.1 REAL SURROUND HEADPHONES WITH ALL REAL DRIVERS [no frequency simulation garbage] IN HARDWARE MODE ON ANY GAME) Not trying to be rude but I am not the run of the mill console gamer that doesn't understand work and just wants everything to be perfect in ALPHA. - - - Updated - - - another question is why does the same thing happen in other games? (Even in exterior views) where it just switches channels without any fade, creating a jarring end user experience.
