    Hello, all.

Before I start, I would like to state something first, very quickly.

This is my first thread for this website, which I have been meaning to post on for a long time. As some might notice, I have also only joined the site this evening, which might elicit some people thinking that I'll be posting off-topic or generally being a pest. Fear not, however, as I have been sure to comb the rules, and as a result, I have kept this thread as on-topic as I can. That being said, if this post is, in some places, or in its entirety, off topic, then please inform me of this with respect, so as to not start any arguments on the validity of this thread.

Anyways, all that's out the way now, so, I shall begin.

As mentioned above, I have wanted to post this for a long time, and today, I got the chance to gather some reference imagery. The title is effectively what does the talking, here; I have come to suggest a setting for a map based in Great Britain. Before I made this thread, I took a few minutes to search for maps set in the UK, and was unable to find anything. I searched using many different keywords, so it can be said I did a thorough enough search, given that the UK is a well known place, and that there should be many results; given that there were none, I became confused. I have always wanted to drive around and enjoy the scenic views of the United Kingdom, but, after looking in the repository, I was unable to find any maps set there, other than a low-quality city map titled "Dublin". Thus; If there are millions of huge posts on maps set in the UK, forgive me, because I couldn't find a single one.

So, I don't expect this to be particularly of interest, but, I love BeamNG, and the scenic beauty of my country, and the game and setting, in my mind, would be a match made in heaven. I have taken many images, and I hope that some of the amazing developers of the game might see this, and honour my suggestion. I neither expect nor demand them to take any action on this suggestion, as this is just... Well... A suggestion, however, I would be absolutely over the moon if a product were to come of this, but, I don't expect it.

Enough pontification; I'll get right on to the photos and actual setting.

I will not be disclosing the exact location of any images, so please don't ask. All I will say, is that this map is set in the south west area of the UK.

I'm sure it is quite a well known fact that the UK is renowned for its capital; London, and that all foreign friends I have ever had, who have been to the UK, have only been to London, to see things such as Buckingham Place and Elizabeth Tower (Better known as 'Big Ben'), and usually just think it was boring. Honestly, if you are not from Great Britain, and have never been there, what would you say it were like? Quite dry, or, saturated? Boring?

Well... In my experience, everyone I have met from abroad have usually had no idea what life was like in the UK, and didn't think there would be anything of notice.

As someone who has lived here their entire life, and never even been abroad? I beg to differ.

Here is where I believe a setting on this tiny little island would make a great map for BeamNG.Drive.

I'm going to focus on a place I know well. It is in the countryside, and on a rather large slope.

As pictured below, there are a multitude of narrow roads, with hedges parallel to the tarmac, and I feel like these scenic roads would be great for cruising, and various scenarios. I'll explain more as I go along.
    4.jpg

Not only the roads, but also, there are vast fields to roam around in. 89518570_223520149035658_6806070258328141824_n.jpg 89870457_2907269342691291_6286499758064271360_n.jpg
Sometimes, I gaze out upon these fields, and I think to myself how much I would love to mess around in them in BeamNG.Drive. The muddy terrain would be great for holding a demolition derby.

Among the other things that such a map would have to offer in terms of driving experience, is the challenging terrain that we are locally famous for; Badly maintained and pot-hole ridden roads.

Unfortunately, while typing this up, I actually accidentally posted the thread. I didn't intend to.

I will update this with more images and detail, as I have a lot more to share, but for now, what does everyone think?

Would you like to enjoy roaming these fields? How about racing along the badly maintained and wet roads?
    Let me know!

Please be constructive with your replies; as mentioned, if a million British map forums exist, I wasn't able to find a single one.

    Cheers!

Your formal tone and well informed post does not match your username. I find this unsettling. I do not have anything of value to add to this conversation. Nice photos though.

Ehhh... Username was a nickname bestowed upon me by a friend and it stuck. That any everything else I wanted was taken. Thanks for reading, even if you do have nothing to contribute. I will update this post later, if it does interest you.

Honestly, I think a UK countryside map would be rad. I also think an Italy sized UK city and countryside mix map would be cool too.

I'm all for a UK based map, one with rolling hills and narrow roads. Would be really good for rally scenarios and driving on the correct side of the road.
Would be good to base it off of places like the Lake District, Rutland Water, the Yorkshire Dales, etc...

Either that or someplace in Wales (Dolgellau and the Barmouth Estuary area mostly), great driving roads there. Lots of dangerous switchbacks and waterfalls on the roads.

Well, having an official BeamNG map set in UK would definitely be great, seeing as the one in Forza Horizon 4 seems to be quite a blast to drive around (haven't played myself, can't afford the game), but the possibility of the devs creating such a map in the near future is rather miniscule or close to none, seeing as they have many many other things to be busy with.

You could always try to learn how to make a map for BeamNG, especially because recently a great addon for Blender was released which allows you to very easily acquire terrain info, buildings (altough very simple ones in terms of mesh complexity) & the textures for that specific place you want.

I can't really help much beyond that, as I have no experience making maps, as I only make cars :p

Here's the video talking about & showcasing the Blender addon

One of the things I was unable to post before accidentally pressing "Post", was that I was willing to learn to make my own mod, and... Guess what? That I had experience with Blender. I need to update this but I don't have the time.

I will take a look at that video, but I will need help to make it, myself. I took pictures of various things, such as signs and some architecture and many parts of ruined road; even some audio ambience.

Thank you very much for your contribution!

Concerning the idea of an official UK map... There certainly would be some nice scenery and a mix of villages and off road options, but that also describes the Italy map, and if ETK test center is ever made into a full map it would overlap with that too. IMO the map we need most is a snowy Japanese map since we have no true Asian maps and no full winter maps.

Nothing against one as a mod though, but we all know how much work that is.

I intend to make the map, myself, if I am able to allocate the resources. I am familiar with blender, so, I think I will give it a fair shake of the lamb's tail.

Stay on topic, please. I intend to hear from people who wish to contribute to the suggestion. This isn't a discussion thread.
