Earlier I posted that I would like chrome door handles and mirrors, as @AlpinaFlyer pointed out, keep in mind that the update is not released yet and it may be subject to change when the update is released.

What we saw in the micro blog is just a new fascia/trim/accessories on the same truck. In other words, a face-lift. Err... Face-sag?

For example, compare that change to the Roamer, which is still on the same frame, but has a very different body. It's not unusual for commercial trucks to be on the same frame for multiple generations. The F-Series was on the same frame for three generations at this time, they just kept face-lifting it for ages. The Econoline has been on the same frame from '75 to present.

Also, if you're going to say that the D-Series is a particular truck, the least you could do is say it's the IRL D-Series American pickup that got a 1980's face-lift and was manufactured until the 90's...

My concern is that we saw bits of this twice before, and they made the full announcement now. It would be weird to announce it formally if it's not finished, yet it's missing a couple of major 1980's American truck bits (metal mirrors, contemporary interior styling, contemporary engines... New doors would help a lot too but they aren't necessary).

I'm still very excited for this and it's great to see content being put in that the community has been wanting to see for ages, but I hope to see it done as a proper 1980's American pickup rather than just a alternate fascia/trim on a 1990's truck like what was shown.

No it doesn't. Not in the slightest.

Also, I've noticed the pre-facelift reveal has led to an influx of two common forum tropes :
    • "[in-game car] looks like/is basically [real-life car]."
    • "[new content] is good, but here's what I think it should look like: (shows dev picture of new content edited in Paint to look completely different)"
It happens every time something new is revealed—hell, it happened just weeks ago with the Vivace. Small suggestions are good, like chrome mirrors, but when people suggest new doors/a new cab, a complete revision of the brand new facia, and a third, completely separate facelift...
...that's when you know things have gotten entirely out of hand.

Also, please remember that A162b's mod already has chrome glass trim and doors with chrome handles and smoker's windows.

which was a Bullnose Ford front fascia on a Chevy K-series.

on-topic: the 'old' D-series is like the 80-86 Ford Bullnose

while the current D-series is like the 87-91 Ford Bricknose. same cab, same bed, just some different styling all over

Don't be that guy, please? These kinds of posts are honestly more annoying than the "it looks like" posts, and furthermore it does not, as far as I know, "violate the forum rules" to point out that the new fascia has an uncanny resemblance to a bullnose Ford.

My main problem with it, other than that, is that it doesn't look all that much older than what we already have. It honestly does suit an intermediate stage much more than an outright 1985 design.

(This also does not preclude the possibility of AR162b's mod being an even earlier "facesag", say, 1978 or so.)

The thing is, the truck is just flat out missing things that are common to all IRL vehicles in this class, hence the large quantity of suggestions and comparisons in this particular instance... For those of us who care enough to be on this thread, this is a game we are passionate about and the face-lift in particular is something many of us have been wanting for literal years, so it's important to us to see it carried through fully.

And I'll probably be saying this until the day the internet dies: the modding community should not be responsible for official content. I love AR162's mod, but there's something very wrong if we need his mod installed to make the official 1985 truck look like a 1985 truck. His face-lift takes a very different approach to the styling, I don't think there should be any reason to fear that his face-lift will become obsolete any more than any other aesthetic part mod.

    Well that looks familiar...

Maybe we will see the Marauder replaced with an M1008/1009 config after all. Just toss on a utilitarian brush guard and some antennas.

gotta admit i'm still not a fan of that grille... and it could still use some chrome and raised doors like CaptainZoll suggested...

but god damn is it beautiful.

the valence is what ruins it for me TBH. change that and the door handles and we're golden. maybe some chrome trim around the windows for good measure.

The new mirrors are perfect. They are the last thing the pre-facelift needed imo. They are exactly like the ones I want to put on my Suburban because the power mirrors have separated.

The door handles are fine because the GMT-400 trucks introduced in 1988 had the same ones. In the early/mid 1990s they made the door handles out of plastic instead of metal, but kept the same design. Gavril has always had more innovative parts in their trucks than their real life counterparts, like their OHC engines, so I think having fancy door handles 3 years earlier than real manufacturers is not a big deal.

The current dashboard works well for the 1985 model trucks, but the facelift could get the Roamer's dashboard similar to GM's facelifted trucks during the mid 1990s.

I don't want this to come off the wrong way, but it seems like they are trying to make a Squarebody/Dentside hybrid out of an OBS truck. While I'm glad its coming to the game, I don't like it.

One funny detail I have noticed about the D Series, how do you open let alone lock the glove box? This seems to be the case for most of the original 5 vehicles except the Bolide. 2012 Gabester must of had troubles modeling glovebox handles.
