i used to live in san francisco and drive a 1.6L integra. hell, my grandma still does and i visit frequently.

it's a lot of work to create a clutch assist for every situation, and it probably will come eventually. but for now it's meant to drive on the road, which is what most people do in this game.

the clutch thermals would kick in during the exploit launching behavior, but the fact that the clutch "assist" would be doing something harmful to the clutch doesn't really make sense to me???

1.) Ouch - I haven't walked into one like that in awhile. Well played, lol
2.) Then why are we making rock crawlers, buggies, and offroad courses?
3.) Because the behavior of the player should reflect behavior the driver; if I want to nuke my clutch by using it wrong, that's up to me, I'd frankly rather not be hindered by the game.

If you need to load the clutch up and stay stationary use the hand brake. Its there for a reason. holding the foot brake and the gas wont activate the clutch but if you hold the handbrake and the gas then the clutch will slip iirc.

Sitting stationary and holding the gas, foot brake, and slipping the clutch, isnt even close to normal. if you need to load the clutch for offroading, hold the handbrake and not the foot brake.
Theres such a large flamewar over something so stupid. its really not a big deal that they changed it.

The only thing I can compare the clutch assist to are the centrifugal clutches like on gokarts or similiar vehicles. You can slap it in gear & stay in place without stalling. I know some company (forgot the name) makes such clutches for bike engines

except when you're already rolling, the clutch is always engaged. when rolling a bit too slow for 2nd gear, it will always downshift to first. in real life, if i'm in 2nd and i go a bit slower than i should (a sharp turn with narrow clearances that i need precision for) i depress the clutch. then i rev it up a little bit (1500rpm or so) and slip it a little bit to get back up to 2nd gear speeds. a centrifugal clutch would do a similar thing.
