I also think it would be a nice touch, and who knows, maybe its possible, and will get in-game. But if it does make it to the final version, it should be optional, since processors tend to suffer from heavy physics calculations. If you are curious, just run a 3DMark physix test as i did, without a dedicated graphics card for the physics calculations, and it will show that the cpu alone is very weak for that, eaven an i7. With gpu help its ok, but then you need a high-end gpu with integrated physics and high core speed, or two midrange gpus in SLI or Crossfire, so one will handle the physics, and one the graphics.. but both options are pretty expensive, and not possible on laptops (only on very expensive ones), so that would instantly ruin the playability on "average" machines, what 70% of the people have. Maybe its possible to optimize it (like the tire and terrain deformation in Spintires beta), but again that would only be possible by lowering some other things, so the pc wouldnt run out of resources. Its all about a nice balance between realism and playability. Another thing is the rendering system. If the game renders "smartly" (only the visible stuff) bound to the perspective of the player view (or the player camera view) then it would be very eficent, and would leave a headroom for all the other calculations, but again its another issue to determine what are the visible polys real-time, and to render them thatway without graphical issues/glitches. Its obviously not an easy task :)

Matey, you really need to go around the forums and read the threads before you start spouting off about this being rendered and pre-visualed, they are infact real time, and this engine is infact extremely well optimised to run on a vast range of machines. Just do a simple search and you will find that out for ones self :) If you have not already, go over to the 'Rigs of Rods' forum, download a copy and install some of gabe and mythbusters cars from the repository. You will soon see that this is just a very early version of what these guys have set out to do with BeamNG :D

Yes, the physics in BeamNG are real-time, but he's talking about the videos posted in this thread... The ones where you see meshes breaking into a ton of different pieces. Those are pre-rendered and are impossible to do in real-time. What is possible is to just hide the polygons affected by broken beams, which is what Gabester said they had 'somewhat working'(I think that's what he said) in the CryEngine3 version :)

Done that, actually quite a long time ago, thats why i thought to finally register in the forums :D What you are thinking of was actually my opinion on the two vids in this thread (on the first page) as stated above by Mythbuster, not the BeamNG techdemo vids :) This two vids actually take ages to render on any pc today, and an implementation is impossible into any realtime game, since Maya, 3Dmax, or any other program takes its time with the rendering, eaven on 8threads of cpu "power" and full gpu utilization. I also done that long ago :) As a matter of fact, i actually downloaded Torque3D too, and checked it out ;)

Sincerest apologies fellow, firstly for the fact that I was preaching what I did not practice on this particular post, and also for my rude tone. I read it back just now and realised it was entirely off character. Probably the lack of sleep, combined with the irritation of constantly repeated threads about the specs of computers needed to run the sim :p

    Yours apologetically

No problem, i'm not a sensitive type of guy, especially on the internets, where things tend to get out of hand pretty quickly :D Anyway, apology accepted, and all the stuff you apologised for are erased from history as it never happened :) peace

Smart :p. How can you do that? Just use your installer and reinstall the game, back up your mods first though.
