Modding for Dummies+BeamNG modding challenge: Gambler

Hello everyone,

We’re happy to announce a new mod challenge. This challenge will be different from the previous ones since it will be co-hosted by the BeamNG dev team! Allow me to introduce the theme:

The theme will be a virtual Gambler challenge. As we all sit inside, we dream about going on adventures. Crazy adventures! So we thought, why not do it in BeamNG? Take your virtual beater, use your virtual toolkit, and create a crazy offroad contraption for the first BeamNG Gambler challenge!

The goal is to create a cheap but original offroader in BeamNG. It’s not about the best offroader, it's about the most original one. Look up the Gambler 500 series or other cheap car “races” to get some inspiration.

How to participate:

1. Join our Discord server and become a member by introducing yourself
2. Let us know that you’re interested in participating
3. Upload the mod to the repository when it’s ready
4. Make sure to share the link to the mod with the admins.

Criteria:

1. Each entry must be original
2. Each entry must represent the spirit of the challenge
3. Model should be as good as possible
4. Jbeam should be as good as possible: Think about the deformation, weight, console errors and behaviour
5. Repo page should look nice and have a good description
6. Entries should be creative and fun, this is the main objective of course!

Forum + Discord rules:

1. You need to have a BeamNG forums account to be able to submit your entry
2. You need to be a member of Modding For Dummies: https://discord.gg/39dvN7z
3. Your entry has to be submitted to the repository before the 14th of May 2020.
4. Your entry has to meet all the requirements of the repository.
5. Don’t copy or repurpose others’ work (ask for permission)
6. No NSFW

Reward:

The winner will get an unique Modding for Dummies challenge medal.

That's awesome ! This contest convinced me to learn how to model and do jbeams, I hope I will be able to create something... I can't wait to see other participant's mods

I would have to ask the BeamNG team but what we usually say is: We allow teams but we only send one reward. Otherwise you could all team up and receive a reward

 

How is the winner decided? Is there a jury we can bribe? Asking here and not on discord, for visibility.

 

Most likely the MFD admin team I'd guess.

 

Keen to participate in this, was banned from MFD like 2 years ago instantly upon joining, so I guess I won't bother with that part but plenty of fun to be had anyway. Good luck to all
