Few days ago I was testing the new Cherrier Vivace Rally with my G25, I accidentally clipped a tree and broke one of my wheels off, while this was happening my G25 was going from side to side with a large amount of force. I reset the car because I feared it might damage my G25 if it continued. After the reset the G25 was still working but without FFB and it also started smelling like burned electronics. After unplugging it and then plugging it back in the wheel completely stopped responding except for the shifter and the pedals. I opened it up and saw that it burned out both motor drivers. It was working perfectly fine before and was regularly used for LFS and BeamNG.

You were probably running the FFB settings for gain too high, assetto corsa does this with my G920, no harm came to my wheel.

If you replace the motor, or get a new wheel, try playing with a lower FFB gain.

Hmm, maybe your G25 was just on its way out, it is an old wheel now, even though they are so much better than the stuff Logitech gives us now with the g29 and g920

Sorry to hear @chris_lucas , I hope that my g25 continue to work like it did for the last 6k+ hours with beamng, but being a 12 years old hardware, i'm not very confident ... I really wonder if the last-gen logitech will work as long !

Sorry to hear that @chris_lucas. I've read a total of maybe 2 or 3 times about broken wheels over the past several years, and I'm afraid there's not much more we can do from our software side to help with the lifespan of hardware. We provide lots of FFB setttings you can tweak to be easier on the aging motors, but that's useless if the failures are sudden, as seemed to be your case.

If it's any consolation, my G25 died back in 2014, after 7 years of use. The ffb motor started dying, pulling harder in one direction than in the other. Before that, the reverse gear had broken, due to a bent circuit board (common issue in G25, but not too hard to repair for yourself).

My current G27 has lived without any issue so far since 2014, even with the heavy continuous conditions i've subjected it to. Lucky so far, but fingers still crossed.
