    Hey there devs,

Might seem crazy but a lot of Semi-Truck Automatic transmissions use actuators to control the clutch in their transmission. It's a little weird why the game doesn't have this as it has an automatic transmission for the T-Series, albeit it a little bit out of place considering the T-Series' build date.

    Regards,

    Gregory U.

you could simulate this via a slow shifting DCT. Or perhaps a sequential gearbox

Sequential transmissions cannot be shifted automatically to my knowledge (check wiki) and DCT's are different transmissions altogether in how they function.

    Hey,

what kind of clutch are you talking about specifically and what do you think is missing in the game?

They are often called AMT or Automated Manual Transmission and they usually feature a fully automatic mode.

Automated manual transmission (AMT) is a specific type of semi-automatic transmission. It consists of a conventional manual transmission with an electronically-controlled hydraulic clutch and computerized gear shift control, and the driver can usually override the computer control with a clutchless "manual" mode.[17] It has a lower cost than any other types of automatic transmissions[10] An Automated manual transmission can simply and best be described as a standard manual transmission, with an automated clutch, and automated clutch and gear shift control. (Taken from Wikipedia as I'm too lazy to describe it myself and it's accurate about this)

This is not to be confused with a regular automatic as AMT's do not feature a torque converter with fluid. They literally use the same type of clutch a manual would, except it is automatically controlled.

Semi-automatic transmissions have also made their way into the truck and bus market in the early 2000s. Volvo offers its I-Shift on its heavier trucks and buses as well UD Trucks with ESCOT, while ZF markets its ASTronic system for trucks, buses, and coaches. In North America, Eaton offers the "AutoShift" system which is an add-on to traditional non-synchromesh manual transmissions for heavy trucks.[47] These gearboxes have a place in public transport as they have been shown to reduce fuel consumption in some specific cases. (Again taken from Wikipedia, on the same page under Other Applications)

Would help if I provided the Wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-automatic_transmission

As far as I am aware the game does not have this particular type of clutch or transmission. Although if it does, I haven't been able to see it anywhere in-game.

Ah, automated manuals. :) Yea we don't have that and don't really have plans to add it either, too niche to be worth the effort I'm afraid...

If there was a way to simply slow down how long it takes for the DCT to shift, I think that would be close enough. I haven't found a variable for that.

    Code:
    dctClutchTime
In the vehicleController section. Defaults to 0.05 aka 50ms atm.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll check if that gets the wanted behavior that I want for my automatic transmissions for the T-Series. If not, well... Let me know why it would be too niche. Curious as to why as it would actually realism to the game for certain vehicles.

So first of all, I'm sorry if I sounded a bit grumpy yesterday.

So I had a look and it seems that changing the DCT clutch time does not get the kind of behavior I'm looking for. Then I realized that we already have some sort of an AMT in BeamNG...

Just out of curiosity, I suppose you know that the game has an Arcade shifting mode. Using that shifting mode with a manual transmission essentially makes it an automated manual right? Because the game handles both the clutch and gears. Would it take a lot of effort to make that happen for a specific transmission type as the game can already handle this process?

Makes enough sense to me, just take that code, give a drive indicator instead of manual gears showing and give it the option to shift manually if needed with something like paddle shifters.
