Evening all, i have been trying to do this for ages now.... i dont know if it is the right way to do it or what but i found this way that works using a collision mesh....

The collsision mesh atm is still just a clone of the track mesh, i'm now going to try and make the collsision mesh ALOT lower in polly and see how i go but here is a little video on how i managed to add a race track from max to BeamNG....

hope it helps someone else start map making.

Can we please have a spereate section for stuff like this because its super super important if you're trying to achieve it and very poorly documented elsewhere. Perhaps a "modeling" support area or similar would be perfect.

I'm happy I found this post, this might be helpful to get me started trying to convert Nordschleife for BeamNG :)

My first question is unrelated to the topic, but I wanted to tag the first post as helpful for me. I have noticed the feature is used a lot over here, and I wanted to use it as well. But I can't find an icon or link anywhere to do so? Where is it found?

Thanks, but I don't see that button..

On topic, I have tried to follow the steps and see if I could get the terrain of my track in beamng, and the tutorial doesn't mention how to export to .dae, and trying to do it from max, using the default settings resulted in a 1hr long wait, and no result...it seemed to go into not responding.

I have exported to .3ds instead, but it screwed up my textures filenames, as they are using more than 8.3 in most cases. So after loading it in 3dsimed, and exporting to dae, then it worked, and it also worked in beamng. However, no textures were visible.

How do I properly export to .dae from max? It seemed to go into not responding when exporting animation stuff or something, but i have no animation in my .max file.. so I wonder.

Btw, I'm no pro at this, I have started using max when i got interested in having nord in rf2. So I learned all for this very project, so I'm still rather a newbie in everything 3d... since I have only worked with a particular engine.. it doesnt help bridge the gaps. Since beamng is handling assets quite differently than the rfactor 2 engine.

I have look at another tutorial on how to make a terrain from scratch, but it did not mentioned anywhere .dae, I searched in it, and it didnt seemed to apply to my usage, this tutorial here seems more appropriate for my use.

IIRC you need 25 posts before thanking.
