Lol damn, you should just be able to delete the files you downloaded and clear the cache and it should be fine. Some of the old files reference stuff thats not used in the 0.19 afaik
It's unlikely a mod modifying the PostFX files to be affecting the vehicle's handling at all. It's more likely you did something wrong. https://documentation.beamng.com/support/support_tools/safe_mode.html https://documentation.beamng.com/support/support_tools/clean_install.html
Hey, sup remember me? How about no ui run, for immersion purposes. Also how about a softer shadows, the contrast is a bit overdone, overall next level as always
As requested, a quick vid without UI, and here it is, with all its mistakes lol One thing ive noticed is that the vid codec seems to make it sligtly darker than what i experience driving. Anyways, been changing alot the last day or two so its has less contrast and somewhat softer shadows as a result. Ive also lowered SSAO strength since it played a role in this darkness... The awesome skin is made by @APi Racing , can be found at: https://beamng.com/threads/skoda-motorsport-livery.70713/ Vid vid vid:
I keep not posting updates here, only in Development Screens, so heres the latest on Utah, the river (and lighting, fog etc) has got a slight remake
A test again, slow mo in the end shows the blue of the sky isnt lost to brightness where theres no light rays. SSAO and shadows work great together around the details of the vehicle.
What @DaddelZeit said. One of the many reasons is that few of us own the same monitor, which means everyone will get a different result. I usually grab a vid and watch it on a few different monitors, that way i can get a feel for how it will look for most. --- Post updated --- Comparison time, first is Vanilla, second is AL. Im using a filmic tonemapping, which creates a more noticeable different between black/white, specially in high contrast lightings.
Played with this screenshot of yours on the phone (Snapseed) since PC is dead. Gladly you made aligned comparison. I made 3 things, I aligned a vanilla screen on yours in couple places. So, first is your original "alternative". On the second screen, I gave 50% vanilla to the sea/horizon/sky/mountain rise. Next, 75% of vanilla is on the car, because bloom and reflection just damn much polished and lastly 50% vanilla screen on the tree/grass shadows since leaves can't make so strong shadow due to natural transparency if so may i say. What you say? Brighter picture is needed on vanilla I agree, alternative does so. But contrast balance is a bit extreme on the curve ends, imo. Edit: maybe I should've left mountain brightness as it is in alternative. And adding my photo of sea(unedited) from Turkey
i tried to install the mod, i think i may have done it incorrectly. the final result was a black and green ECUSA. any ideas on how to fix this?
No idea really but if you remove the files you pasted into your Documents/Beamng.drive-folder and clear cache you should be fine. Dont forget to revert your PostFx preset too. --- Post updated --- Looks good as a compromise between the two and ive had the idea to release a few different versions but prob wont happen. Keep in mind that your monitor/screen on your phone might have tonemapping, contrasting, hdr enhancing features already, look at the screens on a few different ones to make sure you know how it looks. My main monitor boosted contrast so had to adjust that down for example The things you think is extreme on my mod are the ones i appreciate I can tell/show you what number(s) to adjust when ive released this, to get it to be a mix between vanilla and AL, its easy, only annoying thing is really to restart Beamng 15 times in a row when testing different minor changes lol. If anyone thinks it should be released already ill explain why it takes so long time to do so small changes, i literally spend about 1 hour/week to do this so thats it lol. That combined with beeing a perfectionist means long development times but i thik ill release it as it looks now and do further updates in the future.
EDIT: Ive changed the order for install,m now clear you cache first and dont start beamng. Also atleast some seems to have problems with it not looking correct, investigating if that is on my or their side So, figured i might aswell release it, i tend to keep on updating these things for eternity and thats not right, is it Ive overall toned down a few things, for example less contrast between the black/white compared to my earlier vids, also weaker light rays but this is the very one i used in the latest screenshots and the MAN vid. Consists of: Higher resolution SSAO Filmic Tonemapping shader components with a more... filmic take on it Slighty changed PostFx manager settings Custom PostFx preset Install: Clear your cache. Dont start Beamng. Unzip the folders and the postfxpreset-file from the AL.zip into your Documents/Beamng.drive-folder so that you get the folders and the file into your Documents/Beamng.drive-folder Open Beamng, click Options from the main menu. Scroll down so that you see the POSTFX button. Click it. Click 'Load Preset...' and look up the file that was in the AL.zip. should look something like this: 'C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\BeamNG.drive\AL.postfxpreset' , that way you also know youve extracted the folders and file correctly. Done!
Sounds odd, should leave those files alone unless the devs changed the cache function or youve extracted them into the cache folder itself, i think. Test clear cache as a first step and dont start Beamng until youve extracted the files. --- Post updated --- Some quick vid snaps of how it looks.
