new wheel arrived today comes with world's smallest flappy paddles UPDATE: installed it along with a new steering control module, radio buttons and paddles work but not highline controls (I do have a highline cluster though that needs programming)
Sooo.... I messed with my car’s timing and now it’s monumentally broken. The car refuses to start, doesn’t do much of anything. There are two marks for the timing light and it’s impossible to tell which one is which, so it’s impossible to tell if it’s advanced or retarded. I have no idea how to fix it at this point and am worried that it may have damaged it’s rotating assembly when it was too advanced. Gah.
on the topic of fubar'ing engines, i've inadvertently killed my 50cc scooter by adjusting what i thought was the idle screw but was the AFR screw and flooded the sparkplug, and now it wont start for love nor money
You check any BMW forums to see if anyone there would know? You can always pull the spark plug out of cylinder 1, find TDC on the compression stroke, and work out the timing from there.
That’s probably what I should do. Forum people seem to do that sort of thing. Thing is, timing is 22° BTDC @2200 so it’s a pain to figure out from TDC. Nevertheless, it’s something.
It’s alive! Referenced old photos to align the distributor to where it was, and then adjusted it to the correct timing. Runs so much better with the proper advance! Throttle response and top end performance are now absurdly good compared to before. Should pick up some economy on the way! I am smiling a great smile. The smile of a man who messed with his car, broke it, and fixed it.
Badge tuning. Nope, I am not ashamed of myself. Well, honestly it's faster than MiTo QV (where the badges are from) or Giulietta QV. And GT cloverleaf was only 2.0 or 1.9 diesel...
bought a '94 honda legend coupe like three weeks ago, currently its more of a project car state - but about to become my daily. always wanted one of those so i'm pretty excited to get it on the road asap
I ripped it the other day. And now just doing a 100% bolt check before I send it again this week. Also worked on my Miata a fair amount, just misc things.
Replaced the mirror housing and mirror indicator on my golf as they were both cracked and broken. Before After
Traded in the 2015 Jeep Wrangler... Had issues with it. Got a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland edition. Was able to keep my aftermarket wheels and put them on the Gladiator.
Did a compression test, cleaned the engine bay. Cleaned the intake and front bank cover with a nylon and a brass wire brush. And repainted the letters to red ofc.
Installed a front spoiler lip i had lying around for a while currently i have to let the glue dry hence the wierd cobblestone arrangement on the first pic
