This might seem like a weird question, what version of the game is best for running this mod? I'm currently trying v0.16.2, going up from v0.14.4, in order to run a few maps and mods that, for one reason or another, won't render buildings and other textures properly. But, using the latest version of the Herbie mod with v0.16.2, the chrome doesn't appear and in its place is orange with no texture or no material "texture" on the hubcaps (I can't remember exactly what the text said). I have tried some of the solutions brought up in past replies, but none seem to fix the problem. Clearing the cache, deleting and reinstalling the mod, and even creating whole new games and just installing Herbie. Nothing works, the orange menace always returns. So, I'm wondering if, because the mod is a bit outdated, the version of the game is just not compatible, or is there a solution that I might have missed. Thanks for reading this short novel on my problem, I felt that a bit of detail could help narrow down my issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
I kept v0.14 for the Herbie mod. I tried a solution that said to go to v0.16 for compatibility. I didn't know that it was for 0.18 or 0.19. I could try that...
if I dont label this thread "outdated" the mod is compatible with the most recent version of the game.
Great mod! Just one thing though, is the Herbie functionality supposed to be bound to the skin? I think it would make more sense to have it depend on the Herbie engine since I'd love to drive a Herbie that didn't get cranky with me from time to time
its not bound to the skin, take the 'stock' Herbie version for example which doesnt have the decals. Its bound to every customizable item that has the name 'Herbie' in it
It doesn't crash, it takes a long time the first time you try to spawn it. It should work just fine after that though.
Just wondering is anyone else have missing chrome textures or is that just me? A few months ago it was fine but one day suddenly all the chrome is red and black for some reason, I redownloaded the file too
