Hi, so on games where the hardware is not fast enough to run at native resolution, you can reduce the resolution the game runs at. This can be done on any game, eg. instead of running BeamNG at 1080p, I could run at 720p.

However, this will make the UI seem comically big. Sure we could get the UI elements to scale down size to the correct size, but then things would be blurry and unreadable.
What would be nice is to have the game engine (3d stuff) change the resolution of that, and the UI stay at native resolution (keeping text crisp, and everything the right size).

This slider can then be implemented as a %. Ie 80% resolution of 1080p would be 1536x864 internal resolution.

We sort of have this implemented already for 4K users, by limiting the max resolution of the UI to 1080p. I wish we could do this the other way round (1080p UI, low resolution game).

This might be a really good way for laptop users and base desktop users to play the game, despite poor graphics quality.. and have a nice UI. 15w CPU should be able to run the game with 1 car and weak graphics, it's not ideal but it'll help massively.

I know people don't like bumping threads, but I feel like this is very important..

BeamNG is playable on modern laptops and their iGPUs now! I have a 4700U laptop (amd) and it can be ran at 1600x900 at 60fps in performance mode (when plugged into power). However the screen is 1080p, i would love to have the text a bit crisper.. it would likely hide the fact i am running at low resolution as it's only a 13in screen.

Now i have quite a strong igpu on my laptop, there are weaker ones out there that would benefit even more from this. I'd love to see a dev's response on this.
