Just wondering how many have been sold, I dont have a clue, and dont even know when it first was available. I am going to guess 15K. I really think once the racing is enabled, more wheel support, a gear for reverse, and a few other things, this will take off. Maybe this recent update will have it to that point. I really think modding is key, as this will be first decent car game open to modding at this level. And just the freedom to use the editor, to build a levels, import models and build vehicles, and tinker with the settings makes me happy. And a whole lot of others as well! I have heard NCG is going to allow modding, but I would be very surprised if it is to this level. I am not knocking NCG as I do like playing that one as well and it has its place. I am currently building my own map and still learning alot about this game and having a good time doing it. Its amazing how a vechile handles so much different on differnt surfaces. I am a big Oculus Rift fan (do not have yet), and I do have some concerns about the bumpiness of the vechiles on some surfaces. On my pc for some reason its not just the car that is bouncing but it appears the entire world is bouncing ( I like to play hood view). Its a little strange. I know at the moment Oculus is not going to be supported, but I am sure it will be at some point, and I will use some of the 3rd party software with it anyway untill that time. I am convinced, this game (the developers), with the modders and Oculus will be huge. Just dont sell out to frigging facebooK! Well, if they offer 2B, I would I guess.
Well there's over 50,000 forum members, but it's not clear how many of them are pirates or have the tech demo. Also, it's unclear how many people have bought the game but not linked to a forum account. Also, all the cars have a reverse gear already.
I bought one for myself and one for a friend, so that is at least 2 people. And what do you mean by "a gear for reverse"?
Yeah, like I said I havent a clue, but it does sound like considerably more than 15K. Ok, yes you are right about the reverse gear. I do not have the manual configured with my wheel yet. However, when I step on the break it goes into reverse. So maybe it is possible to configure it to stop on break, then change gear and use gas to backup. I will have to search the threads. Thanks!
It works like that if you're in manual transmission (which you can also do in automatic cars) press Q to go into manual mode and Z and X to change gear. You can drive forward and then stick it in reverse and spin the wheels backwards! Wouldn't like to try that IRL...
This will be fixed for the race update, or you can just go into Manual more (press q) then you can go into reverse manually.
thats great that it will be fixed (manual reverse on brake) in this coming update. I do like to use gears. I will have to look through the change log, I would like to be able to see what gear I am in playing in hood view. (as well as speed, which I know theres a mod). I may have to stay up late the day the new update is available. Thats if their servers can handle 50K people trying to download it all at once!
next update requires the new updater which is based on torrent technology. If you leave the new updater open when its finished updating then your PC acts as a seeder for everyone else. Rather nifty. They do of course have their own server as a large scale seeder too.
I've done it IRL; drifting down a hill at around 55mph I slammed it in reverse. The truck stalled almost instantly. The tires would have spun if I was giving it gas. I believe one of the developers mentioned at one point they were going to make the driving mechanics like Rigs of Rods where you had to shift into reverse, like IRL. Maybe there'll even be a park gear. Going off of that, there will likely be a lot of improvements to the auto trans in the Race update.
That's 88.5 KM/H...Rightio hero, I want to hear the rest of the story, like how the internals of your gearbox held up, or even your diff... not to mention HOW did you manage to engage the reverse gear at that speed, manual gearboxes usually do not allow you to select reverse unless you are near a complete stop (unless it was an automatic, then you sir are even more of a fool than I first thought).
Yes, a fully updated and more realistic shifter is coming in the pre-race update. Here is what was listed in the blog post: Added 5-speed manual transmission to D-Series and Grand Marshal Adjusted shift points for all automatic transmissions Automatic transmission launch behavior greatly improved Realistic automatic transmission mode implemented (manual PRND21) Removed ability to manually shift an automatic transmission as if it were a manual Differentiation between automatic and manual transmissions added Removed auto-clutch while changing gears Added auto-clutch on stalling
This would be better if there was a poll on top. One for people who have bought the game, and one for people who haven't. Simple
Not sure that would be 100% precise though. There'd always be those people who want to dilute the poll.
