The beamng damage models are very impressive but the inside even for dev vehicles the dash or door panels when crashed can make a very unrealistic form.. and I would love for a GUI update If possible airbags would be nice. ~ M5
These threads kinda annoy me. Why on earth would the devs add airbags if there aren't any people to protect? And the devs have better things to do with the gaame then fixing what ain't broke.
The Passengers and Loads mod has dummys/passengers, This is the use for this if this cant make it into beamng atleast fix the unrealistic interior deformation.
Why would the devs make something for a mod that not all people have? And why. Fix. What. Ain’t. Broke?
????? "what.aint.broke what does that mean the interiors when crashed hard enough can deform unrealistically
But why do you care? It’s just like saying WINDOWS 10 IS BAD BECAUSE IT DOESN’T HAVE*insert obscure feature here. The interiors are as good as they can get, and deal with it. The interiors are fine and don’t fixing.
the interiors are great its when you CRASH hard enough they deform very UNREALISTICALLY the interiors when not crashed are perfectly fine.
I think the interior deformation is fine. It might look strange when you crash at high speeds, but it's the same with real cars. High-speed crashes aren't usually the best anyway. Beamng doesn't have a perfect game engine either. Airbags would be cool but I don't think they will add them, as there is no need and they would be hard to model realistically. And please stop arguing would you? It seems pretty childish.
I'd asked the same question a few years back and this is what the interior can look like sometimes. It's pretty wonky and messed up, so i'm not really surprised that the interiors can get wonky and messed up in BeamNG either.
The interior would need its own dashboard and seats jbeam to look more realistic, as it is now the dashbaord, seats and other interior parts get there deformation information from the body and roof nodes, also dashboards tend to splint and jag out in real crashes close to how they do in beamng now so the devs maybe said close enough? But maybe there will be a interior jbeams in a future update?
The seats and dash have some of their own nodes, but on some cars they need to be tweaked a bit to help with the deformation.
Maybe not for official cars, physically simulated interiors would be too laggy. Good idea to try in a mod maybe.
Yes, I agree with you, it would be awesome, but hard. As they were talking about earlier, they could use dummies and instead of them being a mod, they could be an extra customization in vanilla BeamNG Drive
not that hard, they could use rails or tension spring the beams: when the beams break it would spring out into shape. The problem would surface when those nodes and beams have to interact with vehicle nodes and beams during a speeding crash (100mph) into a wall, it would get messy for the nodes.
No drivers and passangers as they could negatively affect the games age rating. Remember please that is is a german company and that the authorities in questions arent known to be the brightest bulb in the fridge. Also as mentioned before, a lot of work and performance issues for very little gain. Also gameplay issues.... triggered airbags certainly mean the end of the ride for you in real life even it - technically - the car is still driveable. What is also not realistically simulated btw is the fact that any major deformation of the engine area will almost certainly rupture and sever fuel lines in real life, creating a fire hazard (and being the very reason why modern cars have a collision safety switch for the fuel pump) and also denying the engine of further operation. Meanwhile in Beam NG as long as the engine has survived and the fuel tank isnt leaking, the engines could run for hours on (leaving aside the likely broken radiator). BeamNG overall damage model is simple fantastic.
