Faster Torrent Speed

Guys,

The big problem here is that this updater system uses a torrent backend but doesn't give us any settings capabilities to ensure that the port used for communication is unblocked at your router level and allows direct peer to peer communication. For those of us familiar with torrents, I'm sure we all know the massive difference in speed when the port is configured correctly versus not.

Like most of you, I was sitting here twiddling my thumbs watching these crazy slow download speeds until I popped into my router configuration and threw my PC ip address into its DMZ (which completely exposes the PC to the internet through the router). My download speeds have immediately jumped from around 50 kb/s up to 300+kb/s and it's been humming along for some time now.

Of course, leaving your PC exposed like this is a pretty big no-no while surfing and what-not, but in the absence of having actual control over the updater's torrent settings this works to just get the file downloaded and then shut off...

Figured I'd offer up this idea in case it helps anyone else too!

before it crashed and I had to start it again (which I havent been able too) I was holding a steady 300B/s with a minimum of 2B/s and max of 1.5kb/s

 

2B/s is really slow...
Is it official way to say 1B/s or do you say it B/s?
Both are correct way to say?

 

I bought the game and now I'm waiting for fking piratebay release because that seems like the only sensible way to get the update.

 

B/s alone is simply the unit, should always provide the quantity.

I agree, hopefully we can get a torrent up that is just missing the serial so we can enter our own - that way we can use our full seeding potential. (Count me in!)

 

still wondering why they did it like a torrent... do they really think people are gunna seed for us. In a couple days it'll be 2 kb/s download speed.

Can confirm that! Put my computer to DMZ and my download speed went from around 20kb/s to ~800 kb/s!
Sure it's not good to leave your computer in the dmz.

Mine is downloading at quite a nice pace. Should be done in an hour.

I will leave it open for the day and let it seed while I'm at work. Every little bit helps.

I am an atheist yes. I believe in evolution. I don't believe that there are any gods, evil spirits or an afterlife. I believe in what I can see in front of me as scientific fact. That does not mean that somebody else cannot believe otherwise, whether or not a person is a muslim, jew, christian or some other religion makes absolutely no difference to my personal life so who am I to tell them they are wrong, I would treat them the same as an atheist and to do otherwise is frankly a dick move in my opinion.

 

I think some of the ancient cultures had a good grasp on things. They combined science with religion.

 

I don't dare to use DMZ mode, so I'm stuck with this. And yes, I started the download about 2 minutes after it went live.
It's a lot better than it was an hour ago, but it's still snail pace. My connection can handle 6 mb/sec down.

 

20kb/s and 0%.

 

Pre-race update installed and so far so good. I will test it more thoroughly later, after watching the World Cup my eyes are a bit tired. Those getting errors after installation, try rebooting your PC. It worked for me. Good luck!
