UPDATE: It actually works now, even though I literally have not changed a single thing since I posted that.

Great job, Microsoft. You've successfully made a system that is literally unpredictable and incomprehensible in every sense of the word.

Don't think I ever had that happen. Right after the system failure was the last time I had to redownload anything this time, but I'm not surprised to hear that.

Not sure if this is a good place to share this, but these days I am restarting fresh EVERYTHING: work, friends, hobbies, aka new me).

First thing i've done was today, in High school I was a very weird kid...the type of guy that would be considered a ''f^^^boy'' for asking out a bunch of girls. I was scared that it would still follow me and its being hitting me since the end of school. After a few years of working and taking car bodywork classes, I've decided to politely apologize for the weirdo I was with them for about 2-3 years. Surprisingly, they all accepted my apology message! Such a relief let me tell y'all, I didn't want to be known as a weirdo like I was before to them for the rest of my life.

That was something that made me very happy. Better telling sorry later then never.

Sounds like Microsoft alright. My current Windows 10 installation has a few issues too like Night Mode not working regardless of graphics drivers (a well-known issue since at least 1803), the system volume defaulting to 100% whenever I close the volume mixer (also a well-known issue) and on my ThinkPad, in addition to all of the above, the settings app crashes whenever I go into the network settings.

I'm currently thinking about switching back to Manjaro on my ThinkPad, at least that worked.

I can't give an exact model, but get a cruise bike (or something?) they have larger tires, sometimes nicer disc brakes, but more importantly, they are pretty good looking and larger bikes, they'll fit quite nice.

This is a nicer model I'd recommend, but idk where you live: https://www.energyebikes.com/produc...7299953616184&utm_content=Beta - All Products

Veloster went from running perfectly to horrible rod knock in the space of about half an hour. Checked the oil and there's literally none left. Not a single drop. It ate literally ALL ITS OIL (4-5 quarts; manual states 4.8 but some owners say anything over 4 puts them above the full mark) in a hair over 3000 miles with no visible leakage on ground or in the engine bay, no blue smoke, and no oil pressure light until (even after) it started breaking itself. My old Sunbird, with massive, visible oil leaks, did not go through oil as quickly as this thing did.

I'm in shock right now. I feel like I should cry, but I can't even manage to make myself. I just feel dead inside.

At least it never actually threw a rod so the block, turbo, etc. might??? be salvageable. No idea where I'm going to take it to get it fixed, and if the price is more than about $5,000 I'm hosed.

"them dang ching-chong cars is stealin' my oil!"
in all seriousness, that is weird. i guess if it was burning oil really bad (maybe leaking through the turbo), all the emissions equipment might have been capturing it, or at least slowing down how much exited the exhaust?
i'd at least be interested to unbolt the exhaust at the front, and see how oily it is in there.
see how oily it is in there.

The really scary part is, the guy I bought it from said he was getting the oil changed every 3 or 3,000, which I assumed was just him being conscientious - after all, it is a GDI turbo, and those can foul themselves rather quickly if not fastidiously maintained.

Now I wonder if he didn't just use the engine up, realize it wasn't long for this world, and decide to fob it off on someone else before it grenaded.

PCCV valve, perhaps? Check if you can find any residue on the block itself, or if you can get a bore scope to see if the rings are completely shot. Needless to say, that sort of thing shouldn’t happen. If you only purchased it recently, maybe see if the dealer will take it back.

Damn, that sucks. At the worst, find a used engine and swap it in. My condolences.

Thats a horrible situation. Maybe you should consider learning how to fix engines if you can find transportation while you fix it. Sorry that happened to you, I might do some research later to see if other people had similar issues and what could cause it.

Looks like I'll be "sharing" my mother's car... again... let's see how long it takes her to get sick of that arrangement this time...

I keep thinking I want to restore the Sunbird or buy another clunker so I have a backup car when things like this happen, but it seems like, whenever I get a little bit of money burning a hole in my pocket, something like this happens to eat it up pretty much right away. According to some searching, however, people are being told that a quart every 1,000 miles is normal. Maybe, but 1. that's still way less than this car ate and 2. uh, no.
    --- Post updated ---
Problem is, I bought it used from a private party. No getting the dealer to take it back.

I hope your mom's doing okay during COVID. I have a question. What do you think of college?
