Im posting some progress pictures on the racetrack im currently creating. 99% of the assets I am using minus the trees and some terrain I am making from scratch, so it might take a while to finish. I started with a sketch of a track: Then I scanned the sketch onto the computer and created a mesh of the track: Slowly but surely I have been putting it together: Stay tuned for updates.
Looks phenomenal so far! Just curious how big are those rumble strips? They look a bit wider than I've seen on most track but then again I have no sense of scale.
Looks great, however just a few things, needs more safety barrier around the entire track, and also the terrain where it meets the track looks fairly bumpy so it would be good to smooth that out. Also how wide is it? Looks a little big compared to the car, but that could be camera angle. Anyway, keen to see how this ends up
I’m working on that still. I have a lot of work to do. --- Post updated --- I just made them smaller. And added the rumbling sound effect when they are driven over.
I would rework the layout. The outer path should have lots of corners and a few straights, right now it doesn't have that much balance. I would add a slalom, some nearly flat corners, and more elevation change. just a suggestion. I would also move the straight to the outside. Here is a good video.
never mind, i just drove the track and the elevation change is amazing --- Post updated --- The catch fencing is a little catchy, but this is my favorite track ever. not only does it have extreme elevation change and bankings, but it also has almost flat corners, and potential to create massive crashes. --- Post updated --- on some of the banked corners, if you go off, you fly either into the catch fence hard, or over it into a tree.
Gotta say, track is great, love the layout however there are some big issues that could take it from a 6.5/10 to a 10/10 quite easily. Safety. For a modern track like this, I gotta say you really havent given any consideration to safety features that all tracks need to abide by, this track is more unsafe than most of the 1950s F1 track setups. You have light poles right next to the track, and the few guardrails/catch fences that exist are too close to the track in the runoff areas and aren't smooth, so the car gets caught and ripped to pieces. If you improved the safety aspect and put at minimum barriers (but it really should be catch fencing) around the whole track, and added some more runoff after the straights, it would really improve the circuit. Another big issue is the terrain meeting up with the track, its simply too far down and needs improving, as well as the pit exit/entry needs smoothing, it doesnt make sense to slow down to 40km/h in the middle of the track just so you dont destroy your car entering the pit lane. Apologies if this comes off as harsh, but I can see how much potential this has to become a fantastic map, if you fix these things it will probably be one of the best in the game.
On the big banked corner with the straight leading to it, you need to add alot more runnoff. the car flies into the trees --- Post updated --- the track also has too many straights, it needs more corners, and it feels like a small track that you are very small and driving on
