Is it just me, or is it kind of odd to anyone else that the Barstow is considered a midsize in the vehicle selector? It has a 109" wheelbase (which would be considered compact in the 60s) and it's a pony car, which is definitely qualification for it to be a compact. The Moonhawk also dwarfs it when put side by side, despite the fact that they're supposed to both be in the same class at around the same time.

but is the "fullsize, midsize, compact" designation assigned to what the car would have been marketed as, or is it more looking at what the cars are like overall compared to all the other cars? the barstow definitely isn't compact by european standards, and it doesn't make sense to have the piccolina and barstow in the same class.

    The Piccolina is a subcompact.

I feel like the class is what it would have been marketed as, since fullsize isn't actually an official class of vehicle (it's just a marketing term for a vehicle larger than a company's midsize offering, but is still legally a midsize), and also since there's no way that anyone could consider the Moonhawk a midsize by modern standards,

I stand corrected, but I still think that the class listed in the vehicle selector is what the car would've been considered in its time instead of being based on modern standards.

It shouldn't get the same powertrain options as the bluebuck. I mean it should but with more power and tourque than the bluebuck.

    232- 140hp cast iron
    291- 205hp cast iron
    291RS- 220hp cast iron
    353- 250hp cast iron
    353RS- 285hp cast iron
    423- 310hp cast iron
423RS- 390hp cast iron block, aluminium heads
    423Lancehead- 415hp all aluminum
    291Tracksport- 270hp all aluminum
    423Kingsnake- 500hp all aluminum supercharged
423Nightsnake- 900hp all aluminum twin turbo nitrous
423Drag- 1600hp all aluminum twin supercharged nitrous

The TrackSport should be renamed Tracksport T/A, as it seems like a strong candidate for a Trans Am Grid competitor, like the Z/28, Firebird T/A, Challenger T/A, Cuda AAR, and Boss 302.

In case you want to compare the real world to the Charger mod or the Barstow, see below. I crashed both into four concrete dividers at exactly 100mph.

It looks like the Barstow reflects real life more closely. The Charger (and the Coronet mod) appear to be a little too robust.

I hope that whenever the Barstow gets its inevitable remaster the Devs keep it relatively weak from a structural perspective. I think the level of damage it gets in even minor crashes is more realistic than the other vintage cars, the Burnside and the Bluebuck.

even though the barstow is so similar, you are still comparing a body on frame vehicle to a unibody and subframe vehicle. plus the charge is larger and heavier, so it would compress more like in the picture.

The Chevelle and other GM A Bodies were body on frame which would of been a competitor.

I think one of my biggest gripes with the Barstow is the tachometer ending at 5k.
Every muscle car of the era had a higher tach.

They usually read to 7 or 8 thousand, but may have had a red line around 5 or 6.
    Here's the tach from a 1969 or 1970 Mustang
