Is it possible to use an engine from one car to another?

It was hard to find a way to develop the question, so let me explain further. So, I have a 3.6l Ecoboost engine that's in a Ford Taurus. I would like to place this engine in another vehicle... such as a Hyundai Sonata or the Roamer. However, there are no options for that engine choice in-game on any other vehicles than the Taurus. My ultimate question is: Is there a way I can take this engine, and allow it to be used in another vehicle? If so, how; would it work?

 

I think I've seen a mod that does that. A quick google search should pull it up.
