After downloading and trying out pre race update i noticed my fps wasn't as good as it was before. I noticed fps was better in cab view so i tried to remove HUD if it affected the performance and it did. Disabling hud gave me around 15% improvement in fps. Even after disabling HUD my fps wasn't as good as it was before the update.

    My specs
    cpu core i7 3770k
    gpu gtx 670 ftw sli
    ram 8gb 1600mhz
samsung 840 ssd with 40gb left
    os windows 7

the graphics quality has bumped up, with that comes an increase in GPU load, with that comes a decrease in FPS.

I get about 20 to 40 fps on the Pure Grid map...its okay for me I am on an older system I do not expect much FPS anyway

Didn't the developers say that there should be fps increase?

They said that the physics core was optimised which would decrease CPU load.

I remember that but I think they also said that there should be also a fps improvement on other maps than small island. And also how can the HUD effect fps so dramatically?

the HUD I have no idea.

They never claimed any hard data for an fps improvement. Only that the physics core being optimised would reduce CPU load and potentially increase the FPS on systems which were heavily CPU bottlenecked (which you won't be so would be unaffected by that anyway), that was before they increased the quality of any maps.

I still can't understand why speedometers etc cause my fps drop so significantly.

I have no idea on that one. I know they use a library version of chromium (better known as Google chrome) as the HTML and JavaScript renderer, maybe that has something to do with it.

The default quality settings that the prerace update launches with include all of the post processing effects and 4x AA enabled. This brought my GTX560 to its knees. (5-30fps with crazy freezes whenever large amounts of vegetation faded into view.) Try disabling HDR first, if its still laggy turn off post processing altogether. This gave me an extra ~30% FPS. Disabling AA gave me another ~10-15% but the quality drop there wasn't worth it to me.

I can only complain about performance in Dry Rock Island. I used to be around 60 fps always, but now some parts of the map just lag terribly down to 30 fps... :( And with my hardware that is not acceptable...

GPU definitely runs at 100% with high settings... but I haven't noticed any drop in framerate. Only paid attention when it was a problem and that was mainly in buggy maps.
