High, I've been playing game time- by time for fun from very early times. What i see is that this game have VERY high possibility to get best drag race game ever been. Problem is that there where some tries and even games with drag race simulator platform but they a) Sucked b) Never get done Haulin azz was one of what had good guys behind of it but probably this attempt was lacking of money and it ended before it really started So now to my questions. Is there any mod for real drag racing ? I mean strip is good, physics are OK, ET and trap speed is good but its missing some of most must have things like reaction time and 60ft time. 1/8 mile time would be nice too. I'm racing in real life and this game could give me a lot if i can practice reaction time with tree. Bonus would be that i can drive it trough also. I think it's almost nothing for developers to program real timeslip modification to the game and i think by time it can get quite famous for drag racers because lot's of them practice in their free time with different kind of setups. Ofcourse if we fantasy more then all of kind suspension setings (4 link setings, shock 3-way settings etc.) could be nice too. I add here picture from timeslip what it is in real life. https://www.google.com/search?q=dra...ECAwQAw&biw=1920&bih=947#imgrc=ZPyDiXw8HeaHrM Thank you !
Have you tried using the WCUSA drag strip it has a timer and drag racing scenario attached to it. As for drag racing mods I'm not too sure if there is any currently available, I might be wrong though.
It annoys me most that reaction time is not shown but does effect your time on the west coast strip. There is an app called "distance timer" that can show your ~60 foot, 1/8th mile, 1/4 without reaction time variations that is great for tuning. The app can only show one thing at a time though, so there is no way to make a pass and get all the info a typical timeslip has. The custom strip on the 2Fast drag server just got the right lane lights working a few days ago and it has some big custom timing boards that I assume will hold more info then the west coast strip *eventually*.
I’m sure that the capability is there to build a dedicated UI app for drag racing. It doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult, either. That being said, I don’t know how to do it. But the capability is there. Try reading the documentation page for UI app creation and if you get massively stuck, a quick PM to @Car_Killer might set you straight.
I got the game last month and my modding skills went out of date in the 80s. The 2Fast guy seems to be up to the task, just a matter of time before those timing boards light up.
I certainly would like to see more drag racing content, partially because it's the only mode of racing the current AI is good enough at for it to be interesting. Proper time slip style results, high altitude strips, more vehicle content, etc...
What I really would love in this game is a longer, 1 mile drag strip. The one on WCUSA is IMHO too short. And while we're at it, why not make the start line a whole lot less touchy to false starts. I'm a pleb who plays Beam with a keyboard and god damn launching a car with a automatic at the drag strip is so massively tedious.
Dude, just get an xbone controller. They're so damn cheap these days, and it's totally worth it. Or just get a knockoff one. Hell, you could get by with just an xbox360 controller. 16 bucks on amazon.
In addition to what is mentioned above, I would really like to see is bracket racing rules. This would make the racing much more interesting. It could also allow for a simulated drag race "event". Let the user select the number of cars and then they can either set the field manually or the game can randomize the field. Maybe even have parameters that let you set a range for how fast the cars are. You could have two time runs to set your dial in time and then start the elimination rounds. The game could allow you to spectate the other races or just simulate the outcome of each AI vs AI race. Also, once they add tire thermals, burnouts will become necessary. There is definitely a ton of potential for Beam to make a fantastic drag racing sim and the best part is, most people should be able to run two cars without issue.
