beamNG how about adding an aerodynamics map separately from jbeam on the finished cars it will copy jbeam and on new ones it will be possible to make it more detailed without loading the processor with jbeam nodes first of all it can be used for more realistic f1 cars in this regard, then already spoilers, body kits, etc.
I'm not really sure they even have the resources for that idea. Besides, The JBeam system is perfectly fine.
"jbeam does work, but it will help you optimize your cars and stop a lot of speed races. because now, in order for them to work realistically, you need to resort to a large number of nodes, which loads the processor. It seems to me that only owners of weak PCs 13 years ago (that's me) and not lazy developers think about optimization." They do think about optimization. It's just older PCs can't handle the power of BeamNG. I'm just saying that optimization is important but optimization on a 13 year old PC is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Beamng team needs two versions of beamng. One that runs on your piece of crap computer and one that makes a 3090 lag to 30 fps. beamng needs to stop making their game for the piece of crap computer everyone owns. The graphics of this game are abysmal becasue they make the game to run on like a 3rd gen i5. Two versions, legacy, and the new one. Then this game can actually progress graphics wise.
pretty sure the limiting factor for graphics is t3d, the reason old pcs cant run the game is the cpu load
then they should switch from torque3d to something like unreal engine or something like that for graphics because this game is stuck in 2013 keep t3d for the legacy version for the crappy pcs, and then have unreal or some counterpart for the good version. make the good version so it runs on like a 3090 or something.
bruh this has been discussed by the devs like 100 times already lol. an engine change at this stage would reset progress way too much for it to be worth it
When you complain about your computer that's older than a lot of current (and banned) forums users not being able to run a game that simulates physics at 2000hz with hundreds of nodes, coltris and thousands of beams. Game looks fine for it's age and what it's set out to do, remember this after all a 7~ year old game on a 10~ year old engine that was not designed for anything like what beamng does.
Well no it runs fine im just suggesting we have the version we have now but also another version with better graphics
Yeah having another branch of the game to update and further increase the development effort, potential for extra bugs, needing even more things that need to be playtested and so on seems like a great idea...
I was under the impression the devs already switched away from Torque several updates ago and now use their own in-house code.
Ive never heard of that before but it might be true. Im not super updated on what engines they use. I think what they were saying is that its T3d but theyve modified it so much that its basically in house or something like that. Honestly i dont know.
Honestly I think what OP is asking for is completely outside the scope of BeamNG. But if they are using modular coding then it could be possible, like years later. I wouldn't bet on it
Said like someone that doesnt know anything about the history of the game or its development process. The game looks the way it does because of the heavily modified version of Torque3D the game uses. This is a compromise the devs made intentionally, seeing how limiting the original engine that was being used was. Also, Porting the game isnt as simple as just copying and pasting code to a different engine. It would require remaking the game from the ground up which could take years of development time for not much improvement besides improving the graphics, something that in all honesty most people find trivial. Having two branches that are on different engines would be pretty much impossible. This game is not made intentionally ugly for shitty computers, so get that out of your head.
It looks ugly not because it is made to look ugly, rather the graphical effects have been sacrificed so that the game can run on medium spec gaming computers. It doesn't need to look any better for that purpose.
