Can't install mods or update

I put the correct mod files in the correct folder like "Maps" folder and run BeamNG and it won't show up. Same thing for cars. I try to update but it always comes up with an error "Cannot download version.txt" so I had to reinstall the game to get the update. I still can't update or install cars and maps. What's up?

 

that error is from the old updater only which wont update to the most recent version of BeamNG anyway.

Uninstall BeamNG and reinstall with the new installer found here: http://www.beamng.com/service/latestorder (BeamNG-0.3.1-setup.zip)
