1971 Volkswagen bug... What to expect

    Hey guys I am new here but I have my eye on this 1971 Volkswagen bug for 1200$ I know the basics of old VW engines but I figured I'd need some help. I hope some of you guys would be willing to help me.

    check for rust on the sills and guards, and the engine might leak/burn oil (that's just to be expected)

    It's in the middle of the California desert so rust should not be a problem
