*bump* So it's been a while since I said anything, that's true. Nothing much at all has happened since I last posted, but that might be changing soon, hopefully. See, the thing is, I've found in the past few days what my big personal problems have been to do with for the longest time; before I got into BeamNG, before I even left primary school - I've had chronic back pain. It's always been there, but it's got worse, and I never even thought twice about it, thinking there was nothing I could do. Well, it turns out there is. And after easing it as much as I can for the time being, I feel very different, much better. If you've been wondering why I was so weird about the Blackfoot and made so much drama, and why progress on this one's been even more topsy turvy (I'd say awkward), there's your reason. That being said, the idea of making a Cherokee in any case appeals to me again more than it ever has. I'm surprised nobody's come and surpassed me with their own attempt, to which I must say, thank you for your patience! Progress on the car will start again soon, but since I'm 'home-schooling' in Britain and have online exams next week, you may have to wait until February for any real steps to be made. Nonetheless, I can now say that I'm just as excited about this car's arrival as you are, and I'll be trying my hardest not to hype things up just to let you down again. In other words, I'm better. The Jeep is coming. You'll just have to wait a little longer
good luck with your exams mate. you guys in the uk are having a really tough situation from what I hear
understandable, i forgot this mod existed and then looked at the front page and was flooded with memories. Hope you succeed on your exams
Hopefully it will, at least that's the idea. The reason I'm making this is not only to surpass the level of 'quality' from my Blackfoot mod, but to actually do the XJ Cherokee the justice and good representation it deserves. Its importance and fame among the 4x4 community is massive, so I want to make sure I get it done properly this time around. Of course. Mind, you can already do this with almost any vehicle in BeamNG. All it takes is a simple edited copy of a shock/spring JBeam for some new parts, so even if I don't release the first public beta with off-road stuff (which I'm sure I will), I'll be sure to make it known how to make your own custom parts if you want. Here's the thing guys. As many of you know, much of the praise around this car in real life is its ability to be customised. Being that it's so important to the soul of the car, I want to make this mod just as customisable as the real thing (within reason, obviously), with huge emphasis on anyone making their own custom parts for it - be it bumpers, winches, suspension gear, powertrain... etc. That's why I'm aiming for such high accuracy, because the dream is to be able to use real-life XJ part schematics (OEM and aftermarket) to put those parts straight on the BeamNG car. But I will admit that I went far too OTT about this before; those scans I've got are more than good enough to make an entire car from. I might get around to making some progress this weekend, so I'll be posting anything if it happens, don't worry Feel free to ask any relevant questions you might have about the car, though.
Good to know you're doing well. I very much look forward to the finished product! I personally have a 1998 5-speed 4.0 XJ if you need any references...
Can't wait to see this worked on again. It would be cool if you added the 4.0 v8 from the tj as an option
